00:00UMNO claims that Barisan Nasional is on course to defend the Makota state seat in Johor based

00:11Unofficial counts show that BN side Hussein side Abdullah is ahead of his Perikatan Nasional

00:16rival Haizan Jafar of Bersatu by more than 14,000 votes.

00:22As of 7.18pm, unofficial results indicate that Haizan has secured 4,954 votes while

00:31side Hussein has garnered 19,463 votes.

00:36There are 66,318 registered voters in Makota under the electoral roll for the by-election.

00:44The UMNO's stronghold has fallen out of BN's hands only once in the 2018 general election

00:50when Pakatan Harapan's side Jonet defeated two-term Assemblyman Jai Sarde with a majority

00:56of 1,668 votes.

01:00Sharifa Aziza side Zain regained the seat for UMNO during the 2022 state election, defeating

01:07candidates from PH, PN, and Warisan with a 5,166-vote majority.
