00:33The by-election was called following the death of the UMNO Assemblyman Sharifah Aziza Syed

00:41At the Johor state election in 2022, Sharifah won the seat with a 5,166-vote majority over

00:47Amanas Takiuddin Cheyman in a four-cornered fight that included candidates from PN and

00:52Barisan.

00:53Early voting has been set for September 24.
