Speaking during a meeting of the UNC on Thursday night, the Opposition MP also said children exposed to the sound of gun shots in acts in gun violence have a deep psychological scar on their psyche.

00:00Oropuch East MP, Dr. Rudal Munilal, made an apparent reference to a member of the PNM
00:06who he did not identify by name during the UNC's pavement report in Barakpur in the
00:13Moruga Tableland constituency.
00:15I see it as some private scandal with a former senator or something like that now.
00:20If I discuss any personality, it is in the course of their conduct of public business.
00:25I don't talk to people private business, I want to make that very clear.
00:29What I want to tell you tonight is I think this country must get a protection order from
00:35the PNM.
00:36Dr. Munilal then made his comparison between the PNM and the UNC, which led the People's
00:46Partnership Administration.
00:48Mrs. Fasad Bisasa, in nine years in opposition, not once police gone by she, asking she about
00:54anything she did as Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
01:00You cannot say the same thing of former Prime Ministers.
01:03Dr. Munilal also sought to compare the experience of children on TV shows of past generations
01:10and the children who attended the preschool in Malik, outside of which there was a fatal
01:15shooting incident that left two adults dead, as well as two adults and a child injured
01:20on Wednesday.
01:21We used to hear songs from the electric company on Sesame Street, little children today growing
01:26up listening to gunshot.
01:29That has a deep psychological scar on the psyche of little children.
01:34It will normalize and it will norm violence.
01:39When you grow up listening to gunshots like that, and this is the PNM doing that, they
01:45are responsible.
01:46Where the issue of crime is concerned, the government has often placed the blame on the
01:51opposition UNC.
01:53On Wednesday, Minister in the Ministry of National Security, Keith Scotland, said the
01:57government has a plan with regard to the state's war on violent crime in particular.
02:02It seems that there's a certain element not resting.
02:08That is why we cannot rest.
02:09That is why we work every day, Sunday, Minister Hines worked every day, the Prime Minister
02:14works every day, because they're not resting.
02:18You don't want to see our country as it's supposed to be, a school, you know, as it
02:24was a hospital.
02:25It's a school.
02:26We will not have it.
02:27We will not have it.
02:28Dr. Munilal indicated the UNC was not impressed by the Minister's response.
02:38We want to know policy programs, how much CCTV cameras you were able to repair.
02:43The police officers, do they have equipment in the station?
02:47Do they have working vehicles?
02:48That is what we want to know, brothers and sisters.
02:51That is what we are concerned about.
02:54And they're walking around and meeting people, but they're in a campaign.
02:57An apparent reference by Dr. Munilal to the upcoming general election due next year, 2025.
