FTC Sues AI Schemes for Deceptive Claims, Alleges Companies Used AI to Defraud Customers

The Federal Trade Commission announced action against deceptive AI claims by five entities, including DoNotPay. DoNotPay falsely marketed its AI legal services as the "world's first robot lawyer" without testing them against human lawyer standards, according to the FTC's allegations. The FTC also sued Ascend Ecom and other business schemes, alleging they defrauded consumers of $25 million through misleading claims of AI-driven passive income from e-commerce.
