00:00Hey, it's People in 10, and Baby makes four for the mun-millennies.
00:07Olivia and John are now mom and dad two times over with the birth of their daughter, May.
00:12Olivia explained that May means plum in Chinese, and she talked about having profound emotions
00:17while deciding to go the surrogacy route after her breast cancer diagnosis last year.
00:22As for John, he couldn't resist cracking some jokes on his announcement.
00:26Classic.
00:27I trust that he's getting his hands dirty and his shoulders on dad duty.
00:31May and big brother Malcolm will definitely keep these two busy, and we know they'll be
00:35enjoying every moment.
00:38So first, Janet Jackson says something kind of shocking, then she apologized, then she
00:43didn't.
00:44It's not just you.
00:45It's been confusing.
00:46Let's call Jack.
00:47Hey, Mako.
00:48What's going on?
00:49Hey, Jack.
00:50Let's take it back to the beginning.
00:51What did Janet say that got people so upset?
00:55So in an interview with The Guardian, Janet questioned if Kamala Harris was even black.
00:59She said she acknowledged that Kamala's Indian, but Janet said that she had been told, we're
01:04not sure by who, that Kamala's father was white.
01:06Listen, before we move on, let's clear this up.
01:09It is not true.
01:10No, it's not true.
01:12Kamala is Indian.
01:13Her mom was raised there, but she's also black.
01:15Her father immigrated from Jamaica.
01:17Saying she isn't black has become this big right-wing conspiracy theory with even the
01:21former president making some false claims about her race over the summer.
01:24It's so wild to hear Ms. Pleasure Principle, Ms. We Are Part of a Rhythm Nation, repeat
01:29this.
01:30As a fan, I am hurt.
01:31But then she apologized and then she didn't?
01:34So this is where it gets a little bit confusing.
01:36But initially, someone claiming to be Janet's manager issued an apology statement from Janet
01:41to the media claiming that she had misinformation.
01:44It seemed like pretty standard stuff.
01:46And then just a few hours later, her actual rep told people that the statement was unauthorized
01:52and they say it came from someone who's not even part of Janet's team at all.
01:56Well, hopefully Janet comes out and clears it all up.
01:58Well, thank you for the info, friend.
02:00I'll talk to you later.
02:01No problem.
02:03Bye.
02:04Taylor and Gigi were manifesting cooler weather for us all with a New York night out this
02:08weekend.
02:09Taylor wore a black crop top, plaid mini, and lace-up boots, giving very much back-to-school
02:13chic, while her bestie kept it comfy in a dark brown trench, white tee, and loose cream
02:17pants.
02:18After over a decade of friendship, it makes sense they're complimenting each other's style.
02:22Now, Taylor is gearing up for her Miami shows next month.
02:25But till then, it's all about fun with friends.
02:29Let's keep the fabulous fashion going, shall we?
02:32Jamie Foxx walked his daughter, Corinne, down the aisle at her star-studded wedding to Joe
02:36Houghton.
02:37She wore a romantic off-the-shoulder gown with a delicate floral print, a simple tulle
02:41veil, and an unconventional asymmetrical skirt.
02:44Hey, I'd want to show off those strong legs too, girl.
02:47And kudos to the proud dad for keeping it together at the ceremony and the reception.
02:53Our split-watch radar is on high alert this week after Sheryl Hines was spotted in Milan
02:57without her wedding ring.
02:59This was just a day after news broke that her husband and former presidential hopeful
03:03Robert F. Kennedy Jr. allegedly had a, we'll call it a personal relationship with campaign
03:08reporter Olivia Newsy.
03:10Coincidence?
03:11Well, we don't know.
03:12But one day after that, Sheryl celebrated her birthday with her daughter, her step-daughter,
03:17and without RFK Jr.
03:19So yeah, we'll be keeping an eye on this one.
03:22A whole new generation of true crime fans is learning about the Menendez brothers thanks
03:27to the new Netflix series about their 1993 trial.
03:30Eric and I killed our parents together, so I'd say that makes us pretty close.
03:35This really brought their story back into the spotlight.
03:38So much so, a source says even Kim Kardashian met Eric and Lyle in prison recently as part
03:42of her activism on Prison Reform.
03:44We should note that the brothers have slammed the Ryan Murphy show, but they'll get to tell
03:48their side of the story in another Netflix production out next month.
03:52Maybe now people can understand the truth.
03:55There's a new internet egg girl in town.
03:58Her name is Mudang, a baby pygmy hippo from Thailand.
04:01She may only be 11 weeks old, but her sweet face, sassy chaotic personality, and penchant
04:06for biting zookeepers' legs have already launched a thousand memes.
04:10And good news for the millions of us who love her.
04:12The zoo is setting up a 24-7 live stream in the next week so we can follow along as
04:16Mudang plays, grows, gets all clean, and falls asleep mid-snack just like a baby should.
04:24The first day of autumn came and went this week, and it may not feel like fall in most
04:28places just yet, but we have some homework, y'all.
04:30Grab your big scarf, it's the first day of fall.
04:34This paparazzi photo started it all in 2012.
04:37Now Lenny Kravitz is the king of fall as much as Mariah Carey is the queen of Christmas.
04:41You can't have one without the other.
04:43So happy fall to you, and happy fall to him.
04:47It's the end of an era for those raunchy outros to Sabrina Carpenter's song Nonsense.
04:52She kicked off her short and sweet tour this week where Nonsense was on the set list.
04:56But after the usual setup for the outro at the end, Sabrina went below the stage and
05:00that was it.
05:01She became known for singing the song differently depending on where she was performing.
05:04But they were all pretty suggestive.
05:07Like this one, specially tailored for BBC's Live Lounge in London.
05:10I'm American, I am not British, so BBC, it stands for something different.
05:17Dirty Nonsense outros will miss you.
05:19Thank you for your service.
05:21Now it's the sit down with Derek Hough.
05:23Hi Derek!
05:24It's officially Dancing with the Stars season.
05:27The premiere was so promising.
05:29How cool is it that we have contestants fresh off the Olympics?
05:32It's amazing.
05:33It's so crazy to think like, you know, to kind of think about what their life has been
05:37like recently.
05:38Like, what a whirlwind.
05:40We didn't know who Elona was or Stephen was.
05:43And then all of a sudden now that these massive superstars who have been so successful at
05:47the Olympics and now they're on Dancing with the Stars and other things.
05:50It's pretty awesome.
05:51It's pretty cool.
05:52I want to ask you about some of my personal frontrunners.
05:55I love watching, but I don't know much about dance.
05:57So tell me why you think they each stand out to me on the dance floor.
06:00Yeah, let's check it out.
06:01Dwight Howard.
06:02My guy's got more charisma and energy than anything I've ever seen.
06:11Steven Nutterazit.
06:12I mean, adorable.
06:13Is that the wrong word?
06:14But you kind of like, you watch and you're just like, oh, he's so adorable.
06:22Phaedra Parks.
06:23Oh, I love Phaedra.
06:24I mean, she's just, you just can't talk to her without being like this, you know, you
06:29just, oh, you know.
06:32I love her.
06:33Every time I see her too, just like in the hallway, I just like, I just, she's fantastic.
06:41And your sister is co-hosting again this season.
06:45Do you spend even more time together because your coworkers again?
06:48I'm picturing production lunches, carpooling.
06:51You know, it's funny.
06:52At least on like show days like that.
06:54It's weird.
06:55We have two different tracks.
06:56Like they're like her and Alfonso are doing like their thing and the judges were doing
06:59our thing.
07:00So we actually don't see each other a lot, like on show days, weirdly.
07:03We find time to go see each other, to say hi and stuff.
07:06But it's awesome.
07:07It's so great to be able to work together.
07:09And we've had such parallel careers for so long.
07:11It's good because we're able to be there for each other and to sort of, you know, help
07:14each other out with certain things or give each other advice.
07:17So yeah, it's cool, man.
07:18It's great.
07:19You're an Emmy winner, bestselling author, husband, performer, judge.
07:23How do you possibly chill at the end of a busy day?
07:25Well, honestly, I just go home and I just, you know, snack and stream, you know, like
07:29everybody else.
07:30Like, you know, eat my snacks and, you know, watch my favorite show.
07:33I love popcorn, but sometimes popcorn doesn't love me.
07:36So to sort of manage that, that heartburn that can happen, you know, I rely on Pepsi
07:42Max, Icy Cool Mint.
07:44It's, it works fast, it lasts all night, unlike antacids, which is, which is great.
07:49So I kind of call that, it's like chilling with Pepsi, you know, at night.
07:54It's how I do it.
07:56Here are people, Mag.
07:57We are so happy Hailey is in good health after that scare last year.
08:01Seeing her get back to your Symphony of Dance tour was so inspiring.
08:05Now that you've been through such a scary time, what are your words of wisdom for anyone
08:09out there healing or watching a loved one healing?
08:12It's really hard to do and it's, and it sounds really, um, like a, like an Instagram quote
08:18or something like that, but really trying to stay in the moment, staying present.
08:23And that's so much easier said than done.
08:24And it sounds like such like a phrase.
08:26It's one of the things that I really learned from Hailey during that time that she helped
08:30me with, honestly, was she was just in the moment.
08:34You know, she wasn't focusing on like what, you know, what's going to happen, what's in
08:38the future, you know, um, it was just about what can I do right now that's going to, you
08:44know, help them or even help myself and just staying present.
08:49Because I think that the worry and the fear comes from worrying about what's, what's to
08:55come, what's going to happen, you know, um, that's where a lot of the fear happens.
09:00And so I think that staying sort of in the moment, which is not easy to do, but listening
09:05to things, you know, get some support, you know, listen to some podcasts, listen to things
09:09that are going to help you get you in the right state of mind to put yourself in the
09:12right state.
09:13Um, that's going to help that person heal, help you heal.
09:17Um, I think it's important.
09:20You two recently attended an Emmys after party.
09:23Talk about a special date night.
09:24Do you enjoy the glitz and glam or are you counting down the seconds so you can come
09:27home and change into sweats?
09:29You know, I will say this definitely in the earlier days, you know, you're out until you're
09:33out all night till two in the morning, you know, we're definitely like go to those sort
09:38of events and we just eat all the food, you know, like at that particular party, there
09:43was like a Thai food, there was a big shop, there was those sushi rolls, there was pizza,
09:49there was, it was like Epcot around the world, but in food and my, my beautiful wife, you
09:56know, she, she finds it.
09:58She's like, okay, we're going to go eat all the food now.
10:01Okay.
10:02We're going to put 10 seconds on the clock, promote any one of your upcoming projects.
10:05Ready?
10:06Go.
10:07Dance for the holidays, uh, November 1st to December 29th.
10:10I'm going out on the road.
10:12It's going to be amazing, amazing dancing, amazing music, costumes, lighting, choreography.
10:17It's going to be the most festive, just incredible time.
10:20I got Michael Buble, you know, narrating the show.
10:23It's going to be fantastic.
10:24Derek, thank you so much for being here.
10:26I appreciate you so much.
