We've talked to you about the injuries and having to do a lot of different things in
00:03
terms of personnel and lineup.
00:05
But how much did you appreciate the fact that you have three starting pitchers that went
00:08
out there 30 or more times and actually with Pavetta, four guys with 25 or more starts?
00:13
How much did that, at least on the pitching side, make your job easier?
00:17
Well, as you guys know, the narrative since Clay Buckholtz, right, and then John Lester
00:23
is the Red Sox don't have homegrown starters.
00:27
Well, now we have three and they did an amazing job.
00:31
If you look at the season, right, don't only look at the first half for Baio or Crawford
00:38
in the middle of the season and Tanner a little bit right up to the all-star break.
00:41
If you see the whole body of work, pretty solid, man.
00:45
It's been fun to watch the way they finish, you know, they pitch extremely well in September
00:50
when it really matters, you know, when they're getting to a point here that they don't know,
00:56
you know, what's starting at the big leagues, 22 games, 25 games, 28 games and now 30.
01:02
And all of them are healthy, they're doing an outstanding job, you know, taking care
01:08
of themselves, understanding what they need to do to maneuver a season and the future
01:14
is right.
01:15
And right now, we always have exit meetings regardless of where you're at in the standings
01:19
and we talked to Tanner yesterday, we talked to Crawford today.
01:24
And now, because they have those 30 starts under the belt, going into spring training
01:29
next year, you know, they can be a little bit more vocal, right, what the expectations
01:34
of the group is, you know, if there's a rookie that is out of line or doesn't look the part,
01:40
right, he comes out of shape, they can actually go to them and ask for more.
01:44
You know what I'm saying?
01:45
And I'm very proud of the three of them.
