00:18Court documents obtained by People showed
00:21that June was granted custody of Caitlin by a Georgia judge on Friday, Sept. 20.
00:28Caitlin is the daughter of June's eldest daughter, Anna Chickadee Cardwell,
00:33who tragically passed away at the age of 29 from stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in Dec. 2023.
00:41At that time, Michael filed to regain custody and visitation of his stepdaughter.
00:47Caitlin was Anna's daughter from a previous relationship.
00:51Michael and Anna shared an 8-year-old daughter, Kylie, who remains in his custody.
00:57In the ruling, a judge wrote that while Caitlin did sometimes spend
01:01as much as five weeks at a time with Michael while visiting Kylie,
01:06he never provided any significant financial support for Caitlin.
01:10The documents also stated that Caitlin was afraid of being taken away from her grandmother
01:16and expressed a desire to stay with her, according to a family therapist.
01:21When Michael claimed in his original filings that June and Anna had a strained relationship
01:27and that Caitlin and Kylie shouldn't be separated,
01:30June accused Michael of being abusive to Anna while they were
01:34married, arguing that Caitlin would be better off living with her.
01:38Michael denied the allegations.
01:41Before her death, Anna expressed an interest in having her husband Eldridge Tony gain custody
01:47of both of her daughters. Anna and Eldridge started dating in 2017,
01:52and were divorced from Michael and tied the knot in March 2023, following her cancer diagnosis.
