00:00The bloodshed in Lebanon is looming large over the 79th U.N. General Assembly. Biden's going to

00:06be speaking here on Tuesday. It's his last time addressing this global forum as U.S. president.

00:12He's likely to call for de-escalation in the Middle East and express his support for Israel.

00:17The U.S. is Israel's main ally here, and it's faced criticism for failing to rein in Netanyahu.

00:23Well, it's not entirely clear if the Israeli prime minister is going to be coming this year. For now,

00:29he is still slated to address the U.N. later in the week, however. Lebanese Prime Minister

00:34Mikati has already canceled his trip to the United States. France and Egypt called for a

00:40Security Council meeting on Lebanon this week, and Iraq has requested an urgent meeting of

00:45Arab states on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly. The EU's top diplomat,

00:49Josep Borrell, has warned that Israel and Hezbollah are almost in full-fledged war.

00:55Iran's new president is also speaking on Tuesday. He has said that Iran is not seeking war with

01:01Israel. Much of the focus this week is really going to be on diplomatic efforts to de-escalate

01:06the fighting in the Middle East. But there are also two other major wars that are raging in

01:10Ukraine and Sudan, and they will be in the spotlight this week as well. Ukraine's President

01:15Zelensky will be coming here to outline what he calls his victory plan, which includes Kyiv's

01:20request to use long-range missiles on targets inside Russia. Zelensky is going to be present

01:25at a U.N. Security Council meeting on Tuesday on Ukraine, and he will then, on Wednesday morning,

01:31be addressing the General Assembly. French President Emmanuel Macron is coming to New York

01:36this year. He arrives Tuesday, and he's due to hold a bilateral meeting with Zelensky.

01:41He'll be addressing the General Assembly on Wednesday.
