00:00Yeah I'm talking about you and all that you do for me
00:07Don't wanna play it cool I wanna be your one and only
00:14My name is Dhruv, I am a musician from originally raised in Singapore
00:19but from an Indian background
00:22I write all my music
00:26I am very involved in the production of the music
00:28even though I don't physically know how to produce
00:31and if I had to describe myself or my artistry in one word
00:37I would maybe say risk-taking
00:40I like to challenge myself as much as I can
00:51My upcoming album is called Private Blizzard
00:53It's an album that is extremely live
00:56so it features many instruments
00:58which is something that is quite different from my first project
01:04The inspiration behind it
01:05it was written during quite a messy period in my life
01:08lots of changes in my life
01:10moving between different cities
01:12and it feels very frantic and chaotic in that way as well
01:18As far as how I made it
01:19I wrote a lot of it by myself
01:22I wrote a lot of it outside in coffee shops
01:25in public places
01:27that's one of the ways that I really like to write
01:29and then I ended up recording a lot of it in Nashville in the US
01:32which is a city that I've never really been to before
01:35I worked on it primarily with a producer called JT Daly
01:37and he and I made the world of this album together
01:47Yeah, the song that I'm most excited for people to hear is called One and Only
01:52I have always wanted to make a song that could be played at a wedding
01:57I've always wanted to make a song that could
02:00maybe be somebody's first dance
02:03and a lot of this album deals with very heavy topics
02:06deals with breakups
02:07deals with feeling quite confused in your life
02:11but I think One and Only is a song about the joy of love
02:16the joy of living
02:18It's a very optimistic note to end the album on
02:21I'll sing a little bit of the chorus
02:25which is like
02:26Yeah, I'm talking about you
02:29and all that you do for me
02:33Don't wanna play it cool
02:36I wanna be your one and only
02:48A lot of this album, as I said, was written in cities
02:52and so it would feel like it has to be in a city
02:54I like the idea of doing it in Penang
02:56That seems like a fun place to shoot a video
03:04One Malaysian food that I would really like to try is goreng pisang
03:15It is monsoon
03:17It is the most monsoon album you will ever hear
03:21It's not just the rains
03:24It's also the sun that comes after the rains
03:26and it's, you know, the moments of anticipation before the rain
03:30but it definitely has a few songs that feel like
03:34the rain is coming down on you and you are soaked in it
03:37So
03:42I would love to collaborate with Sheila Marger
03:44She just has the best voice
03:47To my Malaysian fans, I would like to say
03:52the most sincere thank you for all the support and love so far
03:55It genuinely means so much
03:56I am obviously from the region
03:58I grew up in Singapore, not too far away
04:00and I hope to keep coming back here every year
04:04and playing shows for you
04:05and to get to meet you all
04:08Thanks so much for tuning in on Ravaja
04:10and giving me the great Malaysian experience
04:12I can't wait to be back in Malaysia
04:13and hopefully stay longer the next time
04:15Don't forget to check out my new album, Private Blizzard, out now
