00:00This is just a park that's at the entrance to town.
00:07This is the first thing people see when they come into Grafton.
00:13These tent cities have popped up all over Australia, they're not going anywhere.
00:18I'm blind, I'm not exactly the cleanest cut looking person.
00:22I should have my sink over here somewhere, all my dishes are still here, there's my washing
00:27up area there.
00:29Comfortability of living in one of these tent cities is very limited, like we've got no
00:34real toilets here, no showers, so we've got to go to the Caribbean Park or down to the
00:40bus depot to use the toilet.
00:43All us low to income people, we get left behind and eventually we run out of options.
00:49When you look at the price of rent to begin with, $400, I don't think that's realistic.
00:56You're looking at more than $500, it's literally not possible for those that are on a very
01:00low income.
01:01If you look at the scale, they're obviously way down in terms of being able to afford
01:07what is available, which is very limiting, very limiting.
01:11And then sadly we've had the terrible disasters up north, and where people have had to relocate
01:16all over the place.
01:18We need to be finding real solutions to making sure that women, children, animals are safe.
01:26Anyone who came down here would agree that this is not fit for habitation by anyone,
01:31let alone our most needy.
01:35My man, here you go.
01:36We put these together for you guys.
01:38I'd be lost without the instantness of the people in this place.
01:42You've got camaraderie here, yeah?
01:44We're all in the same position, yet the outlook of it, tomorrow's another day.
01:52I'm pretty sure I'll get into housing, I know that one day there will be a house available
01:56and until then I've just got to suck it up and keep doing what I'm doing.
