00:00Dutch Foreign Minister Kasper Veldkamp was warmly welcomed to Indonesia's
00:07Independence Day's reception in Vassarinar on September the 12th hosted
00:12by Ambassador Meijer Fass. As part of the reception, Foreign Minister Veldkamp
00:18newly appointed in July 2024 was greeted with a Minangkultur ceremony, a
00:25tribute to the Ambassador's roots. The distinct sounds of talempo music
00:31accompanied performances by played and pesambahan dancers. These symbolic
00:36gestures including the offering of ceremonial betel leaves honored both
00:41Ambassador Meijer Fass and Foreign Minister Veldkamp marking the event with
00:46respect and goodwill.
01:16Minister, it is truly an honor to have you here today. Your presence signifies
01:28the strong commitment to defend the long-standing relation between Indonesia
01:35and the Netherlands. The Ambassador expressed optimism that under the
01:44Foreign Minister Veldkamp's leadership, the bond between the two nations will
01:49continue to grow. The Indonesian and Dutch governments are already advancing
01:55bilateral cooperation through the 2024-2025 plan of action which focuses
02:01on economic, cultural and political ties. We are separated by a distance of about
02:1111,000 kilometers. It would take 27 days and 16 hours to reach the city by
02:17container ship from Rotterdam. It takes at least 14 hours to get there, to get
02:23there by air from Schiphol Airport. But tonight we're lucky, lucky enough to be
02:28experiencing the richness of Indonesia's culture right here in
02:33Wassenaar. And this evening's program immerses us in the country's vibrant
02:37culture through dance, fashion and cuisine. But being here tonight is an
02:44honor. It makes me feel the truth of Sephardi's words. So thank you Mr.
02:50Ambassador for inviting me. Our presence at each other's national celebrations is
02:56a testament to the strong ties between our countries.
03:01The reception continued with captivating cultural performances highlighting the
03:09diversity of Indonesia's archipelago. From the rhythmic beats of West Sumatra
03:15music to colorful performances from Papua, guests were immersed in Indonesia's
03:22cultural wealth. The celebration drew more than 900 guests reflecting the
03:28strong cultural and economic ties between the two nations with the plans
03:32to strengthen cooperation. The future further looks bright for Indonesia
03:37Netherlands relations.
03:58you
