00:00ASEAN and EU team up in boosting student and academic mobility in ASEAN through a 9 million

00:10euro initiative.

00:13This initiative was launched through a new program called Sustainable Connectivity Package

00:18in Higher Education at the ASEAN headquarters, Jakarta, on July 17.

00:25This year, the EU is granting Erasmus Mundus joint master's degree scholarship to more

00:30than 200 ASEAN students, which allows students to study in two or more European countries.

00:37This is a part of what we call Team Europe initiatives, which are projects which bring

00:43together the European Union, its 27 member states and its financial institutions.

00:49We chose this particular project through the choice of implementing partners with the Dutch

00:56Agency for the Internationalization of Education and with the German Academic Exchange Service.

01:04It is an investment from the European Union in ASEAN of 9.3 million euros, centered around

01:12three priorities, which are student mobility, university networking and building up of technical

01:21vocational education and training.

01:26The project aims to foster EU-ASEAN cross-regional universities in research and strengthening

01:31vocational education, focusing on green transition, sustainability and digitalization.

01:38This particular program, I believe because of the much larger investment and the contribution

01:44by the EU, will certainly involve in many areas, particularly to benefit the training

01:52for young people in ASEAN, young citizens in digital skills, green skills, of course

02:02also about how to empower women as well, in terms of equality, but the participation

02:12will involve not only on the universities and training institutions, but the private

02:18sector also.

02:19So I think this is something that in the end is about investment of the people.

02:25Other than higher education, the Sustainable Connectivity Package will also cover for other

02:30sectors with a total of 60 million euro commitment, such as trade, digital connectivity, energy

02:37and investments.
