00:00A South London food bank has had several thousand pounds worth of stock stolen, its operators
00:06have said. Southwark Food Bank, which is operated by Pecan on Peckham High Street, was targeted
00:12by thieves on Sunday morning. Pecan's CEO, Peter Edwards, said about £3,000 worth of
00:19food and hygiene products were taken, as well as a laptop. The Metropolitan Police confirmed
00:26it was called to the building on Monday morning following a report of a burglary. No arrests
00:32have been made. Mr Edwards has said it's had a devastating impact and it hits the most
00:38vulnerable people in our community. He added that we're all emotionally invested in the
00:43services we provide, we're only here to help other people, so it's a hammer blow when
00:48something like this happens. Head of Food Services, Shahid Mughal, said the first thing
00:54they saw was the shutter had been lifted and the glass had been broken.
