00:00The money that TNTEC receives for the generation and the distribution of electricity is sufficient
00:09to keep its operation running.
00:12But here it is, TNTEC gets its gas from NGC.
00:22The price that it pays for the gas is not passed on to you, the consumers.
00:31And that is the reason why today the government owes the NGC over $4 billion.
00:38Minister Gonzalez said consumers will have to pay more.
00:42Because if TNTEC were called upon to pay that gas price of $4 billion, then someone has
00:49to pay for it.
00:51Minister Gonzalez said consumers in this country continue to pay the lowest for water
00:56and electricity.
00:58It should really dawn heavy on our minds that on a yearly basis we spend over $2.1 billion
01:10in the water sector to keep water going.
01:13So whilst yes, we are paying the lowest rates for water, the government has to find the
01:19revenues to ensure that we get water as best as we can, in the same way for electricity.
01:29Chief Secretary Farley Augustine, who was also at the commissioning ceremony, said the
01:33diversification of all energy consumption patterns in a sustainable manner is a step
01:39in the right direction.
01:41And so today, today's commissioning and bestowal ceremony reflects that we are taking a decisive
01:48action as an energy producing state towards embracing clean energy technology.
