00:00What an adorable game this is, it takes me back to playing Sonic on the Sega Mega Drive.
00:13So you get thrusted straight into this game with no training or any ideas of what's friendly
00:19and what isn't, so just assume everything wants to kill you.
00:23So the idea is you collect coins and with those coins you can buy upgrades at a shop
00:29to aid you making life easier in other levels.
00:33You get 40 levels of fun here, taking around maybe 4 to 6 hours to complete, but again
00:40it all depends on how many times you die or get stuck.
00:45You should definitely expect to die a lot, as there is a lot of tricky bits.
00:50The puzzles are fun and they will require some thought, but most of them are fairly
00:55easy and can be solved just by observing your surroundings for a few seconds.
01:02I like that as well as controlling the adorable Max Mustard character, you will also sometimes
01:08have some sort of weapon thrusted into your hand to use and help Max navigate through
01:15the level, whether it be shooting at enemies, blowing fans, hoovering up veg for coins or
01:24taking out the big boss.
01:27The colours are nice and bright, the graphics are average, it kinda reminds me of the old
01:34Mega Drive graphics, I'm not sure if that's intentional, but I do feel like they could
01:39have made the graphics better in this day and age.
01:43If there's a story to this then it gets lost, probably because there is no speech in this
01:49game.
01:50The camera angles might prove to be a bit tricky sometimes or even frustrating, but
01:56you can work around it.
01:58I do have to say that I'm very disappointed that there is no talking, Max Mustard should
02:04have a voice, or even someone narrating the story would be nice, but there's absolutely
02:10nothing.
02:12I really did enjoy playing this one through, despite there's no talking or that the graphics
02:18look like they've been taken straight off a Mega Drive.
02:21It's a lot of fun, but I warn you, it's going to frustrate you in places, just like the
02:27old 2D platform games did.
02:29It's not a bad thing, it means you get your money's worth, and you will be more satisfied
02:35completing it knowing you really had to work for it.
02:40Platform games have always been popular, and I think Max Mustard is a strong leader in
02:45VR platform games, I hope we get to see more of these type games in the future.
02:51So I am going to score Max Mustard at a 29 out of 35, and you can find my scoring system
02:58in the description section below.
