00:00Here's a game which is very different to the norm, Skyclan, a game that I wasn't enjoying
00:18much to begin with but then found myself addicted to it after 30 minutes.
00:23Now I feel like I should explain the reason why I wasn't enjoying it to begin with.
00:28This was because I might have missed some of the instructions, the main one being turning
00:33in mid-air.
00:35So you launch yourself off these floating bricks.
00:38If you put your hands together like you would when diving into water, then you will fall
00:42faster.
00:44If you squeeze both triggers, then it'll give you a one-time boost in the air at wherever
00:50you are looking.
00:51And then the part I missed was how to turn, which is achieved by holding out your arms
00:56like you are a plane and turning, just like you used to do as a child.
01:01You can also flap your arms in big strokes like a bird to suspend yourself in the air
01:06for longer, but I found this doesn't work so well.
01:09You can only spend so long gliding in the air because your hands will expand and eventually
01:15pop.
01:16But once you touch back down on the cube, they will return back to normal.
01:21Now the idea is to reach the end of the course and slap the Guardian to finish.
01:26There are also 21 star coins to collect on each level.
01:30Seems the more you collect, then the more diamonds you are given.
01:34You can then use these diamonds to unlock stuff to customise your character, such as
01:38colour, face, head and expressions.
01:41There are checkpoints laid out across the level, so you won't have to restart every
01:47time.
01:49There are 74 levels spanning over 8 worlds.
01:54Everything looks really colourful, and though starts out easy, it soon ramps up and gets
01:59a little more difficult.
02:00You will soon be chased by various things which you can shoot if you find a gun.
02:05Then there's a sun that will blow you away if you let go of a cube at the wrong time.
02:11There's also tornadoes, angry looking moving blocks, even some of the cubes move themselves
02:17in the levels.
02:19The controls are easy, but may take some time to get used to.
02:23The menus are simple enough and offer you campaign, multiplayer, character looks or
02:30a level builder.
02:31Then you have controls for music, effects and voice chat on or off.
02:36Now I've been having fun whilst playing this.
02:39Many of the visuals are nice, kind of large picture book child looking, but still a lot
02:46of fun to look at.
02:47The game will get you frustrated many times, like not turning enough whilst in the air,
02:53or not grabbing cubes that you swear you grabbed hold of, or just the game itself as you try
02:58to figure out your route to that pesky little guy you gotta give a slap to.
03:03But it is good that it's not simple all the time and requires some thought.
03:08Some of it is trial by error, some is just pure luck.
03:12So you can build your own course for yourself and others to try out using the builder so
03:16you will never be short of levels.
03:19I feel for the price of this game you are getting your monies with.
03:23The makers, VR Monkey, that also brought you Galaxy Cart, have given us something a little
03:28different.
03:29And it's a fantastic effort.
03:32I think all ages will enjoy this, though be warned, you will need some room as you will
03:37be flapping your arms around in all sorts of directions.
03:41So on that, I score Sky Climb a 36 out of 45.
