00:00A man seeks to improve the quality of life for his new family, returning to a very shady
00:07job he had left for ethical reasons.
00:09That's what a Serbian film is about, a man caught in a dilemma, as apparently the job
00:13will endanger his life by getting involved with a very disturbed film producer, who wants
00:18the film to be as real as possible.
00:20In summary, on this occasion, a Serbian film.
00:23The movie begins with a child watching a film on TV.
00:26Then his parents arrive and stop the tape as it's not suitable for his age.
00:30The woman, called Maria, then complains to her husband Milos for leaving his films within
00:35reach of the child.
00:36The man takes it calmly and tells her that at his age he was already watching that kind
00:40of movies.
00:41Then he takes the opportunity to tell her that his friend Leila called him for a job.
00:45Later he approaches his closet to contemplate the films where he acted.
00:49The woman then approaches to ask him for money for a course her son will have.
00:53Milos checks his pockets and gives her the little he saved.
00:56Later, the man meets an old friend named Leila.
00:59The woman tells him that something big is about to happen in the Serbian market and
01:02she needs him to be the protagonist of a film again.
01:05At that moment, Marko, Milos' brother, appears in order to hear what they're talking about,
01:10as he's a policeman.
01:11Leila becomes uncomfortable and ends the conversation, then leaves the place.
01:15Later, Maria asks him how it went with Leila.
01:18Milos tells her that her proposal seems strange, as she offers him a lot of money despite the
01:23fact that he stopped acting a long time ago, so he's not sure about accepting the proposal.
01:28The next day he meets Vakmar, the film's director.
01:31When entering his mansion, he also finds Leila.
01:34The man tells him that he needs it to be true art, with a man who is an expert like him,
01:38a film that makes him select.
01:40He does a lot of montage and everything natural, besides he will have to act only as he knows.
01:45Then he hands him the contract, but Milos doesn't sign it as he will think about it
01:48first.
01:49Night comes and he tells his wife, and since the payment is very high, the woman recommends
01:53him to consider it.
01:55The next day, Milos meets with Vakmar to sign the contract.
01:58Then he starts exercising because in a few weeks the recording will start.
02:02Meanwhile, his brother Marko talks with Maria, telling her about Milos and at the same time
02:07taking the opportunity to observe her body.
02:09Then he asks to use the bathroom to clear his head.
02:12Milos, already prepared, arrives at the mansion and crosses paths with a strange man and his
02:17bodyguards.
02:18Worried, he tells Vakmar about it since he doesn't know him, but he tells him to relax
02:22because in a few days they will start recording.
02:25The day of the recording arrives and a taxi driver picks him up.
02:28In the car he gives him an earphone that will tell him what to do.
02:31Moments later, he arrives at an orphanage and another man is going to record him.
02:36Milos advances through the passageways and meets a woman.
02:39She approaches and walks with him.
02:41Moments later, he reaches a staircase and finds a young girl.
02:44At that moment her mother appears and tries to take her away, telling her to stop looking
02:48for strangers to take her away.
02:50Hours later, Milos arrives home and tells his wife that he recorded in an orphanage
02:54and it went well.
02:55Then he remembers that the mother was forcibly separated from her daughter and the woman
02:59who accompanied him took her to a room, held him and led him to another dark place to be
03:03with him.
03:04And while they were busy, the girl and another one were watching them from the room next
03:07door.
03:08The next day, Maria takes her son to a party and when she calls Milos to join them, he
03:13doesn't accept because he's tired.
03:15The man then communicates with his brother to investigate those who participate in the
03:18film.
03:19At that moment Leila arrives and informs him that the people involved are trustworthy.
03:24It essentially tries to make him feel that it's an insecurity that happens to anyone,
03:28Milos also says he doesn't even know what he's filming.
03:31Later Milos falls asleep and later his wife comes home.
03:34The next day he arrives at the set and finds a man attacking a woman, and when he finishes
03:38he lets her free to have an encounter with him.
03:41Marcos allows it but when he realizes that the girl is watching them he stops.
03:45Then he asks what's going on, which the woman takes advantage of and bites his groin, then
03:49the bodyguard grabs him from behind telling him to punish her.
03:52Milos obeys and moments later the recording ends, pleasing Vuckmer.
03:56The man, angry, hits the bodyguard as he doesn't accept the attack on women.
04:01Later Marco meets with him and tells him that Vuckmer was a psychologist who worked in an
04:04orphanage but so far he hasn't found any movie he has made.
04:08From his background he has discovered that he is an educated and professional person.
04:12In the next recording Milos is scantily clad, and the same woman is lying on the floor and
04:17very hurt, then his son appears and insists that he finish her off, but then he wakes
04:21up as it was just a dream.
04:23Moments later he approaches his family to say goodbye, as they came to pick him up for
04:27the next recording.
04:28The woman advises him that if he doesn't feel comfortable he can cancel it.
04:32Milos meets with Vuckmer and tells him that he no longer wants to participate in the recording,
04:36and tells him that he quits definitively and there is nothing that will change his
04:40mind because the environment where there are children bothers him.
04:43Vuckmer agrees with him saying that he also cares about children, but he can't stop recording
04:47because his country needs it, as it's in ruins and with the money they get they will make
04:51it rise again.
04:52In a twisted monologue he says that these types of films are valuable, as they exhibit
04:56to the world the different arts and feelings that the victims have, which are the most
05:00expensive and best-selling objects in the world.
05:03Then he shows him one of his videos that transcended, where a woman gives birth, and
05:07then a strange man holds her baby and makes it cry in pain.
05:10Milos leaves the place disgusted, but while driving his instincts begin to awaken, and
05:15when he stops Vuckmer's doctor approaches the car, suddenly the man begins to have fleeting
05:19visions of everything that happened up to that moment.
05:22Three days later he wakes up in his bed with traces of blood and beaten, and his family
05:26has disappeared, suddenly the man begins to have fleeting visions of everything that happened
05:30up to that moment, suddenly he remembers two people with a mask on their head.
05:35Upon leaving the house he finds Vuckmer's cell phone and tries to call his own number,
05:39and receiving no answer he calls his brother but it's in vain, then he stops at the traffic
05:43light where he was with the doctor, remembering that the woman got into his car and left with
05:47him, moments later he arrives at the orphanage and finds it empty, and when he enters a room
05:52he remembers that the doctor took him there.
05:54In that place Vuckmer was also there, he confessed that he had placed an aphrodisiac in.
05:59He drinks so he could work better, then a woman is held to the bed, and Milos under
06:03the effect of the substances awakens his bestial instinct and launches himself on her.
06:08And while doing it an earpiece encourages him to continue until he finishes with her,
06:12Milos comes to his senses and starts to feel bad for what he did, but still decides to
06:16continue looking for his family.
06:18Upon arriving at the office, he finds several cassettes and takes them to another place.
06:23In the forest, he starts to test them.
06:25In one of them, Vuckmer tells his boss that he has no problems with Milos as he knows
06:30that he will return anyway.
06:31In another, the guard that Milos hit ends up in bed with him.
06:35In another, Leila complains to Vuckmer about the way of working with her friend as he shouldn't
06:39have applied any aphrodisiac to him.
06:41In another recording, Leila's teeth are broken, then a guard approaches and takes advantage
06:46to then finish her off.
06:47In another recording, a woman thanks Milos for having gone to her house, handing him
06:51her granddaughter who he turns into a woman.
06:54Vuckmer also approaches to encourage him, but Milos doesn't accept, jumping out the
06:58window and escaping from the place.
07:00The man leaves the recordings and heads to the girl's house, but upon arrival finds her
07:04calm in her garden.
07:05Suddenly he remembers when he entered a store after escaping from the recording.
07:09Then he looked for a phone and called Marco to pick him up, and while waiting, he saw
07:13a girl and his instincts awakened.
07:16Some men who were following the girl notice Milos and begin to beat him, at that moment
07:19a bodyguard appears and liquidates them and he is kidnapped, moments later they arrive
07:24at the orphanage and the doctor applies a dose to him.
07:27Milos realizes what they were doing to him, so in a careless moment he also applies the
07:31dose to the woman, but while trying to escape he runs into the guard he hit earlier and
07:35he forcibly takes him to a room.
07:37Milos comes to his senses and arrives at a large room, where he finds the nurse and several
07:41men lifeless, there are also a couple of cameras.
07:45Again he remembers that in that place Vuckmer was waiting for him, showing him two people
07:48with covered heads and apparently sedated.
07:51Milos can't stand the effects of the aphrodisiac and approaches one of them.
07:55Then he discovers that a masked man is next to him doing the same to the other person.
08:00Moments later Vuckmer uncovers the face of each one, revealing that they are his brother,
08:04his wife, and his son.
08:05The woman wakes up and is shocked to see Milos with the child.
08:09Milos becomes enraged and goes for Vuckmer, beating him until he finishes him off.
08:13His wife takes advantage and launches herself at Marco, attacking his neck and liquidating
08:18him.
08:19The guards try to stop Milos, but he takes the weapon from one of them and liquidates
08:22them.
08:23Another guard attacks him despite being injured, but Milos manages to defend himself, and realizing
08:28that he doesn't have an eye, he pierces him with his groin.
08:31His frightened wife then tries to attack him, but he knocks her down with a blow and then
08:35takes her away with his son.
08:37Upon arriving home he arranges them in bed and then goes down to finish himself off,
08:41but realizing that he has no bullets, he becomes exhausted and falls asleep.
08:45Milos comes to his senses and hits his brother's corpse for having done that to him, as apparently
08:50the man arranged the scene with his family with Vuckmer.
08:53Then he gets into his car and returns home, finding his wife and son in one of the rooms,
08:57as apparently they were always in that place.
09:00He approaches and hugs them.
09:01Milos starts to get worse, while his wife tries to make the child feel good.
09:05Later the woman discovers that there is no other solution than to use the weapon, so
09:09she takes her husband and son to bed.
09:11Milos settles into them, pull the trigger, and finish off all three.
09:15The next day the producer appears and orders to record what apparently was the end of the
09:18movie, which was actually Milos' life and his new foray into adult cinema, thus ending
09:23the film.
09:24Warning about this movie graphic and disturbing content, a Serbian film, a descent into the
09:29darkest depths.
09:30A Serbian film is a movie that has transcended the horror genre to become a subject of debate
09:34and controversy.
09:36Its impact lies in the explicit and disturbing representation of violence and more, and human
09:41degradation, elements that have positioned it as one of the most controversial works
09:45in cinema history.
09:46A disturbing premise, the film tells the story of Milos, a retired actor who is seduced by
09:51an apparently lucrative offer to participate in an experimental film.
09:55Violence as cinematic language.
09:57One of the most controversial aspects of a Serbian film is its explicit use of violence.
10:02The scenes are raw, explicit, and seek to provoke a visceral reaction in the viewer.
10:07While violence in cinema is not new, the way this film represents it has been the subject
10:11of numerous criticisms and debates.
10:13Therefore, in the summary, I have only toned it down due to platform policies, as it is
10:18very intense.
10:19Beyond provocation, beyond the controversy and polemic, a Serbian film raises questions
10:24about human nature, the limits of cinema, and the representation of violence.
10:29Some critics argue that the film is a scathing satire of another industry and a denunciation
10:33of contemporary society, while others consider it a gratuitous and exploitative work.
10:38The reception of a Serbian film has been extremely polarized.
10:42While some consider it a masterpiece of horror cinema, including myself, others reject it
10:46for its explicit content and its alleged misogynistic character.
10:50The film has generated an intense debate about censorship, artistic freedom, and the role
10:54of cinema in society.
10:56Conclusion A Serbian film is a movie that leaves no one indifferent.
10:59Its impact lies in its ability to provoke a visceral reaction and in the complexity
11:03of the themes it addresses.
11:05While it is a disturbing and difficult work to digest.
11:08A word of advice from your narrator.
11:10Due to the extremely graphic and disturbing nature of this film, discretion is advised
11:14when viewing it.
11:15It's important to keep in mind that this type of content can be offensive and traumatic
11:19for some people.
