00:00All right, Coach Battle, let's move it forward to Sunday night in Las Vegas, a top 25 showdown

00:08between number 23 USC and 13th ranked LSU, the Bayou Bengals, a four and a half point

00:15favorite in Las Vegas, the over under 64 and a half.

00:19Coach, last year, two high powered offenses that could run it up and two defenses that

00:24would allow the opponents to score a lot of points.

00:27How do you think 2024 begins in this matchup?

00:30Well, you know, these two teams are different than last year.

00:33Two Heisman quarterbacks are gone.

00:35Now, I think Moss Miller has got outstanding talent.

00:37I literally like Garrett Nussmeyer as a quarterback, but we've got two new defensive coordinators

00:43as well.

00:44And defensive coordinators that can stop an offense are difference makers in these games.

00:48Remember, as many points as USC scored last year, and Lincoln Riley is going to score

00:52as many as he can score against a team he's better than.

00:55When he played UCLA, Oregon, and Notre Dame, he scored 20, 27, and 20.

01:00When you've got a defensive coordinator who's got the book on the play callers, that's what

01:03we call it.

01:04When a defensive coordinator has the book on the coordinator of offense calling plays,

01:09they tend to hold them down.

01:10So I think it's going to be the catch is the defensive coaches that took over these programs,

01:14because remember the team that held them down, UCLA who held USC down, they've got their

01:18coordinator down now too on their staff.

01:21I want you to settle potentially a debate on the show in regards to the head coaches.

01:26Brian Kelly for LSU and Lincoln Riley for USC.

01:30In your opinion, who has the better resume and which coach has the advantage tonight?

01:35Well, I'll be honest with you, Lincoln Riley comes from the Mike Leach family.

01:41He's going to try to score.

01:42He doesn't only want to win games, he wants to score more points than everybody.

01:45And sometimes that hurts the defense.

01:47It gets you three and outs.

01:49The defense gets lax because they get ahead against lousy teams.

01:52You don't make them play tough games.

01:53From what I've seen over my years, if you're all about scoring a lot of points, you've

01:58got to be careful because you put yourself in a bad defensive situation.

02:03I think Brian Kelly in this situation will be in a better situation because he won't

02:07have that overriding score a ton of points philosophy interfere with winning the game.
