00:00Five people have tragically lost their lives, and dozens more are injured following a series

00:05of airstrikes on Russia's Belgorod region on Friday evening.

00:09Local authorities confirmed the attack, attributing it to Ukrainian forces.

00:14Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that Ukrainian forces employed Vamper

00:20multiple launch rocket systems armed with cluster munitions in a strike that targeted

00:24the city of Belgorod and its surrounding areas.

00:28The attack claimed the lives of one woman and four men, and left at least 37 others

00:33injured, including six children.

00:36Ten of the injured are currently in critical condition, receiving urgent medical care.

00:41The assault caused extensive property damage, with shattered windows and damaged facades

00:46in residential buildings and businesses.

00:49Governor Gladkov was seen on video surveying the aftermath as emergency responders worked

00:54tirelessly to extinguish fires on a building's roof.

00:58In the nearby village of Dubovo, located just south of Belgorod, two homes, a car, and a

01:04garage were also set ablaze.

01:06Fortunately, the fires have since been brought under control.

01:10The news of the casualties came just two hours after an air raid alert was issued for Belgorod

01:16and surrounding areas, prompting residents to seek shelter immediately.

01:21As of now, there has been no official statement from Russia's defense ministry or Ukrainian

01:25authorities regarding the airstrikes.

01:29This attack occurs amid escalating border clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces,

01:34with ongoing fighting in the neighboring Kursk region forcing tens of thousands to flee their

01:38homes.
