Great white sharks bring more tourists -- and warnings -- to Cape Cod  A growing number of great white sharks are making their way to the waters off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, every summer, lured by an increase in the seal population. The new visitors have generated tourism in the region. 'I think it's actually helped the business a lot having the sharks here,' says the co-owner of a shark-themed store. But as shark lovers flock to the beaches, towns and lifeguards are doing their best to keep people safe by using warning signs and systems to keep swimmers safe. 00:25And we definitely have noticed a lot more people loving sharks and coming,

00:29and I think it's actually helped the business a lot, having the sharks here,

00:33more than when we started, for sure.

00:35Because the love for sharks here on Cape is just so crazy.

00:38You know, especially when people love sharks, they are full gung-ho

00:42and loving them, as am I and my fiancee as well.

00:45Yeah, we have a flag system here on the Cape that we use to alert people about sharks.

00:50We fly the purple shark flag all the time.

00:54It's to alert people that there's always a risk of sharks in our waters.

00:59And in lifeguard language, the purple flag means marine life hazard.

01:04Ours has a shark on it because that's our main marine life hazard.

01:07And again, we fly it all of the time so that people know that there's always a risk of sharks here.
