00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here coming to you from

00:07St. Andrews venue for this week's AIG Women's Open, the final major of the 2024 golfing

00:17season. This is the third time the Women's Open has been staged on the Old Course. In

00:252007, Mexican Lorena Ochoa, the game's dominant force at the time, she landed the title pulling

00:33off a historic victory. Six years later, American Stacey Lewis finished birdie-birdie to land the

00:42title. As you can tell, it's breezy here at the moment and that's a sign of things to come later

00:51in the week. On Thursday, for the first round, the wind could gust up to 50 miles an hour

00:58and if that's the case, there's certainly going to be a chance of play being disrupted,

01:03as of course was the case when the Men's Open was held here in 2015.

01:10World number one Nellie Korda, she didn't play in last week's ISPS hand now Women's Scottish Open

01:16at Dundon on Lynx. She's kept her powder dry for this one. She was on fire early in the year and

01:22she's certainly going to attract some big crowds later in the week. That's of course with the likes

01:29of Alexi Thompson, Lydia Ko, the Olympic champion. We've got two Scots in the field, a 2009 winner,

01:36Katrina Matthew, she's making her 30th appearance in this event and it's probably going to be a

01:42farewell for Beanie and what a place to do it. And also Gemma Dryborough, the current Scottish

01:48number one, she missed a cut in the Women's Scottish Open at Dundon. She's disappointed

01:53about that, meaning she needs a big week here to really boost her chances of a second successive

02:02Solheim Cup appearance. Really just, as I say, the wind is blowing at the moment, looks lovely behind

02:08me. If I turn around this way, we've had some really squally showers here already today and
