00:00 Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here coming to you from

00:06 Augusta, Georgia, where it's very much the calm after the storm today, where the completed

00:16 first round and second round of the 88th Masters became a real test of endurance. Winds gusted

00:24 up to 40mph and throughout the day it really was a case of players just trying to dig in,

00:32 get through to the weekend. Rory McIlroy and John Ram were among the players who found

00:38 themselves in that position late in the day. Both of them just made it through. Rory of

00:44 course is trying to become just the sixth player to achieve a career grand slam, while

00:50 John Ram is trying to become the first player to win this event back to back since Tiger

00:55 Woods in 2002. Big name casualties included Jordan Spieth, former winner here, he run

01:03 up a quadruple bogey nine at the 15th in the first round, no way back for him from that.

01:11 Dustin Johnson was another casualty, two time winner here, Bubba Watson, Open champion Brian

01:17 Harmon and then later in the day, poor finishes from Justin Thomas, two time PGA champion,

01:24 saw him miss out. Sergio Garcia as well and also Wyndham Clarke, the US Open champion,

01:32 they're all going home early. However, at the top of the leaderboard we've got a three

01:36 way tie on six under par. World number one Scottish Sheffler, the 2022 winner here. Bryson

01:44 DeChambeau, former US Open champion and Max Homa, who has produced his best performance

01:51 so far after two rounds in a major. Great story today of course was Tiger Woods, five

01:58 time winner here. He's always done well around Augusta National and Tiger now holds the record

02:06 for most consecutive cuts in this event, having made it number 24 today despite finding himself

02:14 having to play 23 holes after the weather delay on Thursday. Certainly one of the days

02:22 that will be remembered in the Masters. Players love making birdies, fans love players making

02:29 birdies but today was one of those days where it just showed how tough it can be at the

02:35 top level in professional golf on a tough golf course in tough conditions. To keep up
