00:00Aldi has earned the title of Australia's cheapest supermarket, but just how much cheaper is it?
00:09A 2024 survey from Consumer Group Choice revealed Aldi is 25% cheaper than Coles and Woolworths.
00:18It tallied up the totals of 14 commonly bought supermarket staples like apples and penne pasta from 81 supermarkets across the country.
00:28The Aldi shop came in at $51.50, followed by Woolies and Coles at $68.58 and $69.33 respectively.
00:38But are shoppers making any compromises by shopping at Australia's cheapest supermarket?
00:44ACM asked shoppers what they buy and don't buy at Aldi.
00:49Cat food and Barocca and things like that, that I can't get in Aldi, so I have to go to Coles or Woolies.
00:57But yeah, it can be double if I go to Coles, so that's why we go to Aldi's.
01:02With Aldi's, yeah, I pick the cheaper stuff, especially the laundry detergent.
01:09I just found out that they're septic safe laundry detergent, which is great.
01:14Usually I have to do a bit of research with laundry detergent.
01:17And yeah, price-wise, it's good.
01:20Sometimes like for the celery or the lettuce or peas, sometimes they sell out.
01:26There are a few things, different brands of sauce and things like that, but I usually go to Coles.
01:31I would feel guilty if I had a family and walked out of Woolworths with the trolley full of groceries when you can go to Aldi's and definitely get it cheaper.
