At only one ringgit per trip, the Rapid Bus Demand Responsive Transit DRT van service
00:07
has been gaining popularity among Klang Valley commuters
00:10
who are drawn to its safe and quick direct transport to popular urban hotspots.
00:15
The vans provide users an alternative transportation method
00:19
alongside supplementing the existing fleet of buses operated by Rapid Bus.
00:24
I've been using it for probably about a month now.
00:27
What do you feel about it? Is it convenient?
00:30
It is very convenient. It's much more convenient than waiting for the bus.
00:33
Because waiting for the bus usually takes about half an hour.
00:36
If I miss it, then it's gone.
00:38
But this one, I can just book it and ten minutes will arrive
00:41
and I can get to my college in about two minutes' time.
00:44
Has it been punctual so far?
00:45
Yes, very punctual. It's on time. It's very on time.
00:49
So even the journey is much faster?
00:52
Yes. It only takes ten minutes.
00:55
If bus, it's probably about half an hour.
00:57
How often do you use it?
00:59
Quite often. Every two days once.
01:01
For work?
01:02
Yes, for work.
01:03
Do you find it convenient?
01:04
Yes, very convenient.
01:05
Compared to the bus service?
01:06
Yes, much much.
01:07
It's just that they follow the Grab system.
01:10
You just lock, you book your time and they are there already.
01:16
Do you find it cheaper also?
01:18
Cheaper, yes. You touch and go.
01:20
Very convenient.
01:22
So overall, you would say it's a good move here?
01:25
Yes, very good move.
01:26
But does it help make your travel everyday easier also?
01:29
Yes, because you can set your timing.
01:31
You can arrange your timing anytime.
01:33
It's very convenient actually because it's very fast
01:38
and also I don't have to wait for a very long time.
01:42
I use it every day.
01:44
I'm using my RM50.
01:46
I pay RM50 for one month and I can use it.
01:51
Following positive feedback from users,
01:53
after the service was first launched last year,
01:56
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad has procured 300 new DRT vans.
02:01
Its President and Group Chief Executive,
02:04
Mohamad Azharuddin Matsah,
02:06
says the RM1 fare is an introduction price
02:09
with no plan to increase it yet.
02:11
I think the priority for us is quality service
02:14
and satisfaction of the customer, which is our passenger.
02:17
So, if we see positive feedback,
02:20
we will evaluate it.
02:21
For now, we will start with the price.
02:26
A total of 20 vans are currently in service,
02:30
servicing nine corridors in the Klang Valley
02:32
and one route in Penang.
02:34
The number of routes will also be gradually increased
02:37
once the 300 vans arrive in stages.
02:40
The rapid DRT service also includes virtual bus stops,
02:44
which will be included in stages,
02:46
in addition to regular bus stops.
02:49
Each van has a maximum capacity of 12 passengers,
02:52
excluding the driver,
02:54
and is equipped with closed-circuit television cameras
02:57
and a tracking system to enhance security.
03:00
Operations begin at 6am and end at 11.30pm daily.
