00:00Two weeks after the widespread flood in Metro Manila,
00:03the number of people infected with leptospirosis was recorded in hospitals.
00:09At the National Kidney and Transplant Institute,
00:11almost 50 patients are confined due to leptospirosis.
00:15That's why even the hospital's gyms need to make leptospirosis wards.
00:21There are still 10 patients waiting in the emergency room
00:25who are not being admitted due to the lack of nurses and doctors.
00:29But the National Kidney and Transplant Institute said
00:31this is common in hospitals after a strong storm.
00:34They asked the Department of Health for additional 20 nurses and 10 doctors
00:39to examine the condition of the patients.
00:43In the whole country, since January 1, 162 people have died due to leptospirosis.
00:4967 cases were reported from July 14 to July 27.
00:55On July 24, there was a large-scale flood in Habagat.
01:00One to two weeks before symptoms show up,
01:04if you get drenched in the flood, if you have an injury or not,
01:08the doctors' advice is to go to the health center right away
01:12and say you got drenched in the flood to get prophylaxis.
