00:00AEW threatened that their stars are leaving, a backstage incident after Dynamite, a WWE
00:06name let go and more.
00:07I'm Oli Davis, and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:13Get exclusive videos over on our Patreon.
00:15There's been loads of speciality themed episodes of AEW Dynamite in the past.
00:20We've had St Patrick's Day Slam, Road Rager and, my personal favourite, Quake by
00:26the Lake.
00:27But now, there's a new piece of branding in town…
00:30TRAVEL MAYHEM!
00:32AEW CEO Tony Khan posted before the Wednesday 7th episode that because of flight cancellations,
00:39several AEW wrestlers were struggling to get to the show.
00:42I've held back other announcements anticipating TRAVEL MAYHEM, and will change accordingly.
00:48This mainly affected the already announced rematch at the Conglomeration vs Roos, The
00:52Beast, Muay Thaos and Roderick Strong, as the Conglomeration's Mark Briscoe and Karlo
00:56Riley couldn't make it in time.
00:58I like to imagine Mark Briscoe in a Delaware airport somewhere still cutting an 18 hour
01:02long continuous promo on Delta.
01:04Instead, Cassidy teamed with FTR to win the match.
01:07They're from North Carolina, where the show was held, so TRAVEL MAYHEM wasn't so much
01:12of a concern.
01:13There's no word on what other matches were affected by the issues.
01:16But the backstage drama wasn't done there, as quickly after the end of Dynamite, AEW's
01:21official X account posted, there was an incident involving Hangman Page and Jeff Jarrett, video
01:27to come.
01:28Don't play with my PTSD over backstage incidents in AEW, AEW.
01:33Thankfully the incident was kayfabe, where Hangman Page brawled with Jeff Jarrett in
01:37a post-show interview, and Mariah May and Tony Storm, who hadn't been seen since their
01:41in-ring pull apart brawl about an hour earlier, also just entered the shot fighting.
01:45Tony himself tweeted, it was right by my chair as we wrapped up.
01:49There is currently no word on how many monitors might have fell on him.
01:52With Hangman not having a direction for All In, it's speculated he could be facing Jarrett
01:56at the show following this angle.
01:58It's previously been reported that AEW originals Penta and Rey Fenix are set to leave the company
02:03once their contracts expire.
02:04Fightful Select have now confirmed there have been discussions in WWE about bringing them
02:09both in.
02:10Apparently Penta and Fenix, who are real life Lucha Bros, want to be a package deal, so
02:15a team, and they want to go straight to the main roster, not to start in NXT.
02:20This might be because Penta is 40 years old, and is eager to be on either Raw or SmackDown
02:25as soon as possible.
02:26One source close to them said both might appear in Orlando sooner rather than later to prepare
02:31for the defection, and that Penta's contract expires this month, while Fenix's is up
02:37in September.
02:38AEW did want to re-sign them both, but the brothers kept delaying those conversations
02:42and recently filed for trademarks on their ring names and catchphrases.
02:46And that's where the scourge of AEW comes in.
02:49Konnan.
02:51Despite being used by AEW in their first few years, Konnan seemingly fell out with Tony
02:56Khan and started criticising the booking on his podcast.
02:59Since then, AEW has favoured CMLL over Mexico's other main promotion AAA, which Konnan books.
03:06Back in June, Konnan warned Khan that what goes around, comes around, and to have your
03:11little fun while you can.
03:12He has now posted, what comes around, goes around too.
03:16Konnan has been a mentor to Penta and Fenix, and he might have had their ear on leaving
03:20AEW.
03:21How do you want to see the Lucha Bros debut in WWE?
03:24Let me know in the comments down below, where I'll be replying to people FROM OUTTA NOWHERE
03:29saying it should always be PENTA.
03:31Sometimes people leave WWE these days too, it's just not often their own choice.
03:36PWInsider is reporting that WWE's Vice President of Talent Relations Operations Christian Altman
03:42was let go by the company this week.
03:44Altman has been with WWE since 2007, and is the 40th known name released by the company
03:49this year, with over half of them from executive positions following the corporate merger between
03:54WWE and the UFC last September.
03:57Our latest episode of Video Game Club is now live, with us playing Spider-Heck.
04:01Here's a clip.
04:31Go watch us play Spider-Heck on Control Freaks right after my review of AEW Dynamite Travel
04:50Mayhem in about 5 minutes.
04:53I'm pretty sure now that Dynamite's opening theme is actually MJF's.
04:56He opened the show for the fourth week in a row, taking on Kyle Fletcher with Don Callis
05:00on commentary, and Kyle's best friend and MJF's all-in opponent Will Ospreay watching
05:04from backstage.
05:05Who he later found out was barricaded in his locker room, so he couldn't stop a post-match
05:10beatdown.
05:11MJF played his typically excellent old school heel, stalling, getting cocky after just one
05:16move, being an American hero, for the might of Australia Fletcher, to get a sudden babyface
05:21comeback.
05:22Fletcher looked so good near the end of the match, I bought into not just one, but two
05:26nearfalls.
05:27A reverse pin off MJF's Panama Sunrise, and the second off a Tombstone.
05:31But what's with the Don Callis family all finding their morality as of late?
05:35Don chucked Fletcher a screwdriver to beat MJF with, which isn't that heelish considering
05:39how MJF cheats with weapons to win the majority of his matches, like against Kyle's own
05:44best mate Ospreay, but Kyle couldn't bring himself to use it.
05:48I wouldn't have minded him going for it, out of justified vengeance for how Max took
05:53title, for MJF to dodge it and cheat to win by himself.
05:56Instead, MJF won clean after Fletcher threw the screwdriver away, pushed down the referee,
06:01and then blooded Kyle with the diamond ring.
06:03Ospreay made it down just in time to save Fletcher from a Tiger driver, smartly wearing
06:07a white t-shirt to get Kyle's blood all over his chest, looking like me after eating
06:12a Double Big Mac at 1am.
06:13Mariah May then beat Viva Van with a series of Tony Storm's moves, which set up a really
06:17cool post-match angle.
06:19May unwrapped a present, which was a picture of Tony and Mariah hugging.
06:22She laughed, but she didn't realise what was written on the back.
06:26The Mariah.
06:27The.
06:28No one who speaks German could be an evil man.
06:31Tony made a surprise attack, and the referees pulled them apart.
06:34We got a character vignette getting over Jack Perry's edgy, psychotic personality, showing
06:39him smashing in old TVs with AEW clips on with an axe.
06:43Which was somewhat undermined by the broadcast then cutting to a Taco Bell commercial.
06:47Because combined with Perry's last line, it made him seem like he was willing to sacrifice
06:53a beefy five layer burrito.
06:55The Learning Tree attacked Shibata after he had beaten Brian Keith, which was all a set
06:59up for the return of Hook.
07:00I'm glad Hook and Shibata are back, but my god, I am yet again feeling the crushing
07:04stagnation of the Chris Jericho Meat Card Vortex.
07:08Renee interviewed Hangman Page backstage, who still really fixated on Swerve Strickland.
07:12Try the Headspace app, Hangman.
07:13You gotta let go of this rage.
07:15Speaking of, Strickland had a sit-down interview with JR to build his all-in match against
07:19Bryan Danielson.
07:20Using JR in this way really helps elevate the already historic stakes for their feud.
07:24As Swerve claimed, he doesn't care about ending a father, and when he beats Danielson,
07:29his legacy will belong to him.
07:31Due to travel issues, Orange Cassidy had to team with North Carolina's own FTR against
07:36Roderick Strong, Roosh and The Beast Mortos.
07:38It meant we got more of an FTR style match than the crazy six man spots we've had in
07:43previous weeks.
07:44It was still really enjoyable, and you can't blame anyone for the travel issues, it was
07:47just different.
07:48The Heels lost this time after Roosh got in what appeared to be a legit strike exchange
07:52with Dax and Cash.
07:53It's still real to him, dammit.
07:54So FTR hit a big rig on him to win.
07:56The Acclaimed came down demanding that tag title shot they won almost two months ago.
08:01Fair.
08:02But they brawled with FTR.
08:03I'm struggling to get into this feud without the actual tag team champions being involved.
08:07Christian revealed it'll be the House of Black vs the Bang Bang Gang on collision to
08:11determine the patriarchy's trios title challengers at All In, for which he'll be the special
08:16guest referee.
08:17A very fun wrinkle, but not as fun as how Killswitch doesn't get to hold his own trios
08:21title belt in these segments, it's just given to Shayna.
08:24We got a character vignette for Hologram, aka teenage Tony Khan's cool create a wrestler
08:29character on No Mercy.
08:33How do you escalate the Brickhouse Camille simple squash match from last week?
08:37You have the Brickhouse Camille squashing two enhancement talents this week.
08:41Mercedes cut a promo afterwards reminding us how Britt was suspended by the EVPs.
08:45Way to work yourself into a shoot, sister.
08:47Much love, HH Kiss.
08:48But then Tony Schiavone revealed Tony Khan has actually lifted that suspension.
08:53I'm really lost on what AEW's management organogram is.
08:56And Britt Baker is not here tonight.
09:01She's on satellite.
09:03For this week, at least, I felt as though the backstage rumours of Britt and MJF's
09:07fallout has sapped some of my enjoyment rooting for the babyface.
09:10It was announced that Claudio will take on Okada for the Continental Championship next
09:14week after Claudio won a three way on Collision.
09:16And the main event saw Bryan Danielson take on Jeff Jarrett, which got started right away
09:20when Jarrett whacked a guitar over Danielson's back during his entrance.
09:24Both men perfectly told the story of the veteran who wants the other wrestler to be the best
09:28he can be, by beating the crap out of him.
09:31Jarrett loves you, Danielson.
09:32That's why he's suplexing you onto a bin.
09:35Making me feel like I was watching TNA from 15 years ago, Jarrett immediately brawled
09:39into the crowd and had a fun fight on the concourse.
09:42They traded weapons, shots and submissions, but Danielson won with a running knee with
09:46a chair.
09:47The two men embraced afterwards, and special guest Ricky Steamboat, not special guest referee
09:51Ricky Steamboat, you can tell because he had neither a referee shirt, a bodycam or a bracelet
09:55on, raised both their hands.
09:57Swerve came down afterwards, towing just the right line of tweener, again promising to
10:01take Danielson's legacy.
10:03Next week, he's going to fight Wheeler Yuta to show Danielson why he is the most dangerous
10:08man in AEW… aka Yuta's gonna bleed a lot, I'm sorry about that.
10:15There wasn't anything bad on this show, but it did feel like a bit of a filler episode.
10:18This week's Dynamite is 72%.
10:21Now go watch us play Spy the Heck over on our video game channel Control Freaks.
