00:00Was it difficult to be a girl in this sport?

00:05Because I mean, maybe when you started, it's probably different from how it is now?

00:10Would you say that there are more female race car drivers now than when you first started?

00:15Yes.

00:16Definitely a different scenario from when I started.

00:21Nakakatawa ngayon na ang daming babae and it is like out in the open or more ingrained

00:28into society na may mga female racers.

00:32I remember when I started, it wasn't just even that eh kasi medyo sikat ang street

00:38racing noong time na nagsimula ko.

00:42So calling yourself a racer didn't exactly have a positive connotation to it.

00:48So one, I had to defend that na parang hindi, legal to, sa track namin ginagawa to.

00:54Then another side was telling them that you mean business.

00:59Because a lot of people didn't really, you know, consider the women who are racing taken

01:05seriously.

01:06Parang ah, yeah, baka girlfriend lang ng isang karirista or something like that.

01:11I've had a few interesting comments back in the day trying to race.

01:17But now, ano na, I think it's a lot more open.

01:21So you would say that when you started, you were really working against a stereotype?

01:25Oh yes, definitely.

01:27I remember there's one race and I've said, I have mentioned this to a few people na before

01:33na slalom, kakastart ko lang, I was having a bad day.

01:37And slalom kasi usually nasa may, ano yan eh, sa mall.

01:40So maraming tao talaga sa parking lot ng malls.

01:43So after my stint, I was going back to the paddock and I remember hearing these two random

01:50people outside.

01:51Kasi nga diba wala kang vintana.

01:52They were saying like, ay, pangit naman ang oras niya.

01:53Then the other guy goes, ay hindi pala, okay na yan kasi babae siya.

01:54Yan ang babae.

01:55I was like, ano?

01:56Aray!

01:57Take!

01:58Plus, siguro rin kasi no, that's why that comment came.

01:59Kasi nga they don't, wala namang distinction.
