00:00Today on Unbeatable Banzuke, competitors hop to it in kangaroo, but what goes up must always
00:09come down.
00:10And get ready for SpongeBridge 3.
00:13More twists, more turns, more falls, starting now.
00:18Welcome to Japan's legendary temple of champions, where athletes gather to face the most difficult
00:28challenges ever conceived.
00:32Testing balance, endurance, and sheer strength, competitors have one goal, beat the course.
00:41But victory is elusive, and the only constant is the bitter taste of defeat.
00:48This is the ultimate competition of man versus obstacle, who will top the Unbeatable Banzuke?
01:18In previous kangaroo competition, pogo-sticking hopefuls hop to the challenge, but between
01:35the stairs and the hurdles, victory has remained well out of reach.
01:39So far, 13-year-old return competitor Haruki Kanebako made it the farthest, but last time,
01:44he was brought down by the neon grid.
01:47The banzuke for this event remains empty.
01:50Will today be the day that a pogo champ leaps to new heights and earns a spot on the banzuke?
02:18Next up is middle school student Yoko Kobayashi, age 15.
02:22Can she be the first to finish the course?
02:38Yoko Kobayashi went off at the stairs and had to abandon pogo mid-hop.
02:48Up next is Kane Yamamoto.
02:50She's been playing around with the pogo stick for more than five years.
03:20Yamamoto was well on her way, but her knees seemed to suddenly buckle on the narrow bridge,
03:45and she collapsed into the moat below.
04:00Next up is 8-year-old Kohei Owada.
04:02Will his youthful enthusiasm carry him through?
04:26Owada almost reached the top of the stairs, but his stick caught on the last step.
04:37Next to face the course is 10-year-old Keitaro Sugimura.
04:40He believes playing soccer will help his chances.
05:02When unbeatable banzuke returns, just because these kids are small doesn't mean they can't
05:19kangaroo like a champ.
05:21Will anyone be jumping for joy on the banzuke?
05:32Welcome back to Unbeatable Banzuke.
05:35The kangaroo challenge is knocking out competitors one after another.

08:07This middle schooler has been pogoing since he was three.
08:08Does he have any chance to navigate this treacherous course and be the first to claim a spot
08:09on the banzuke?
08:10At the top of the stairs, Nao Koya lost control and hopped recklessly off the course.
08:35Arai's great run ended at the revolving doors.
08:38Wasn't enough to earn a spot on the banzuke, but it was the best anyone has done today.
08:48Up next is 4th grader Keiji Matsuda, age 10.
08:52In a previous shot at the banzuke, Keiji attempted to conquer the Bamboo Derby 3 course.
08:57After failing on stilts, Keiji will now see if he can hop onto the banzuke.
09:25The final competitor is 12-year-old Yoshiki Mochizuki.
09:29He has 6 years of pogo experience and big dreams of joining the banzuke today.
10:25When Mochizuki reached the narrow bridge, he lost his balance.
10:43In a last-ditch effort, the student tried to leap all the way into the brake zone, but
10:48he just couldn't get there.
11:02Coming up on Unbeatable Banzuke, the newly designed sponge bridge is unveiled and the
11:06competitors take a turn for the worse.
11:35In this newly redesigned sponge bridge course, an impassable bridge has been made even more
11:45challenging.
11:46In the past, it was a straight shot across the green zone.
11:49Now, contestants will have to sidestep to stay on the shifting course.
11:54The declining yellow zone has been leveled off, but a sharp 90-degree turn will cut contestants
11:59down to size.
12:01Anyone reach the red zone, they'll find the familiar curving climb that has yet to be defeated.
12:07Will anyone have the balance and poise needed to cross the 99 steps of sponge bridge 3?
12:13If so, they'll place their names on the banzuke, alongside previous champions in this event.
12:32The green zone is now in the lead.
12:34The speed is increasing!
12:36The speed is increasing!
12:38The speed is increasing!
12:40The speed is increasing!
12:42The speed is increasing!
12:44The speed is increasing!
12:46The speed is increasing!
12:48The speed is increasing!
12:50The speed is increasing!
12:52The speed is increasing!
12:54The speed is increasing!
12:56The speed is increasing!
12:58The speed is increasing!
13:01Kaede started to look shaky before the 90-degree turn, and steps later, there was no hope of recovery.
13:1120-year-old Anri Hajima is next.
13:13Can this college track star survive this 99-board dash?
13:31The short pants, the red short pants, are going to the green zone.
13:34And the change of course is a success!
13:36He calms down!
13:37Just a little more!
13:38Just a little more!
13:40Hajima looked solid out of the gate, and she had no problem with the zigzag.
13:44But, before she could reach the safety of the brake zone, the track star went down.
13:49I'm going to Korea to get my prize money!
13:55Next will be 17-year-old Yasushi Tsuchiya.
13:59If he succeeds in this competition, I feel like he will succeed in the next year's entrance exam, so I want to do my best!
14:09From Sponge Bridge 99, he fell from his 2,000-year-old entrance exam next year!
14:15The zigzag in the green zone requires incredible control, and Tsuchiya didn't have the balance to survive.
14:22I will do my best not to fall.
14:23You fell here.
14:24Yes. I think I will pass the entrance exam.
14:27I will do my best with the tenacity I trained in table tennis!
14:36Next to try is homemaker and amateur ping-pong player Michiko Ikeda.
14:40She went on a diet and lost 7 pounds to prepare for today.
14:44Can she remain light on her feet on the Sponge Bridge?
14:48She did it!
14:53She lost weight for this day.
14:55From here, she changed to the green zone!
14:59Two more, three more, one more!
15:07Table tennis mom, Michiko Ikeda!
15:10I'm sure her husband, who is currently on a business trip to the United States, is also happy!
15:16She also lost 3 kg.
15:19Table tennis mom, Michiko Ikeda!
15:23She fell!
15:25Ikeda was moving calmly across the yellow zone when the board under her feet suddenly slipped away.
15:32What do you want to tell your husband, who is currently on a business trip to the United States?
15:34I'm sorry that I couldn't do it even though I didn't get hurt.
15:38Are you going to call him in Japan?
15:40I will call him because I love him.
15:42Thank you for the meal!
15:44Thank you very much!
16:15Next up will be Hideto Someno.
16:17This 28-year-old town hall employee has a plan to beat the course.
16:22Speed!
16:23Hideto Someno, who lost 48 kg.
16:25She will use her speed to run across the Sponge Bridge!
16:33First, the green zone!
16:35She moved to the side!
16:37She cleared the green zone!
16:45She has to turn!
16:47Yellow zone!
16:50Someno was in the middle school high school volleyball team.
16:53How about her ankle?
16:55She will go straight from here!
16:56It's dangerous!
16:57She fell!
17:02Someno's speed walking served him well in the green zone.
17:05But he had too much momentum to make the sharp turn in the yellow zone.
17:11Next up is Akiko Hontani.
17:14Years of ballet and gymnastics training have given her plenty of confidence in her balance.
17:23How about the ballerina on top of Oniki?
17:25She had confidence in her balance!
17:27But why did she fall here?
17:31I fell.
17:34Next is 25-year-old homemaker, Kayo Ogasawara.
17:38She fell!
17:42She is 40 kg lighter than her mother!
17:45She changed her riding position!
17:47She slipped here!
17:53Ogasawara seemed to have navigated the zigzag.
17:56But then she quickly lost her balance.
17:59I will be with this face forever!
18:0331-year-old Chieko Kusano is next.
18:07Can this mother of two become the mother of one coveted spot on the Banzuke?
18:12Chieko Kusano is trying to maintain her physical strength.
18:15There are many stairs in the company.
18:17She may be increasing her leg strength before she realizes it.
18:25Her two white legs are starting to walk.
18:28Slowly! Slowly!
18:29She wants to be careful when she changes her riding position.
18:31She can't go straight!
18:33Go sideways!
18:37Kusano looked less like she was walking on Sponge Bridge
18:40and more like she was walking the plank.
18:43Last to try is 18-year-old Takuya Koizumi.
18:46He's reached the red zone in previous attempts at both Sponge Bridge 1 and 2.
18:51But he's never made it all the way across.
18:53He hopes to change all that today and finally join the Banzuke.
18:59Koizumi Takuya is training to become muscular.
19:04He wants to be called the Koizumi of Sponge Bridge.
19:13His body is a bit long, but he made it!
19:16Fast! Fast!
19:17He quickly cleared the green zone in just 5.52 seconds.
19:22He may be hiding his potential.
19:2518-year-old Koizumi.
19:27He has to change his direction at the yellow zone.
19:32The sponge won't shake!
19:33The sponge won't shake!
19:34He has to change his direction!
19:35It's dangerous!
19:37He lost to gravity!
19:41We are surrounded by defeat.
19:44The new Sponge Bridge 3 gives us nothing but disappointment.
19:48But let's look up and look back at today's event.
19:53In Kangaroo, a group of eager young competitors took on the course,
19:57but not a single one came anywhere close to victory.
20:01Even those experienced on a pogo stick were thrown off their game by the relentless obstacles.
20:06Incredibly, another day ends and still no one has ever reached the Banzuke for this event.
20:14In Sponge Bridge 3, the redesigned course made short work of every competitor.
20:19This event has always demanded impeccable balance and total control.
20:23And today, the new twists and turns eliminated everyone.
20:27No new names will walk onto the Banzuke alongside previous champions in this event.
20:32If this event can be easily defeated, it won't be called a challenge.
20:37The champion will have the courage to win.
20:40It's a challenge to the impossible.
20:43And an even more cold-blooded skill test awaits.
20:47Until next time, I'm Kato Keiga.
20:50The door to the champion's power is sealed.
20:57BANZUKE!
