00:00Alright, hi people, it's Jesse and I'm here to do another unboxing for you guys today
00:05of Seinfeld, the complete series DVD set.
00:09So yeah, finally got it, I don't remember if I did an unboxing for it, but I have for
00:14a while had the DVD set of the first season of Seinfeld, or the first two seasons actually
00:20of Seinfeld, and I've been meaning to get the last seven seasons that I didn't have,
00:27so I just thought hey, when this was part of a buy two for three sale on Amazon, I decided
00:35to get it.
00:36So yeah, um, I'm just gonna ignore the fact that Jerry Seinfeld turned out to be such
00:44a chud, but whatever, um, yeah, I do like the show from what I remember seeing a bit
00:52in syndication on channels like TBS and whatever, but I just haven't sat down to actually watch
00:59all of it, so I'm gonna watch all of it, I plan to also, or want to also do videos on
01:05it in the future, but yeah, so before I take a look at the DVD set, this was on the back
01:12a bit, attached with a bit of an adhesive, but yeah, Seinfeld the complete series, see
01:20the box set, all the discs, this also has a bonus disc with a retrospective with the
01:25cast, so yeah, 33 DVDs, all 180 episodes, including two different versions of, I think
01:32it was like season 3 episode 11, which has both the original and syndicated versions
01:37of the episode, so yeah, so that's actually not bad, more than 104 hours of amazing extras,
01:45bonuses featuring the exciting reunion of the entire cast plus Larry David on the ninth
01:49anniversary of the series finale, packed with hilarious bonus features created in
01:53partnership with Jerry Seinfeld, documentaries for all nine seasons, inside looks, not that
01:59there's anything wrong with that, bloopers, in the vault, deleted scenes, yadda yadda
02:03yadda, commentaries, sign-imation, okay, notes about nothing, and then all that, I'm just
02:13assuming that all these discs are region 1, so yeah, so here we go with the box, which
02:22is a somewhat flimsy cardboard box, but it's still whatever, Seinfeld logo, the complete
02:27series, all four main cast members, Spidey right here with him again, and the back with
02:34him taking a bow, so yeah, so here we go with the DVD case, with the same stuff as
02:44the box, right here, we got a episode and special features guide for each disc, for
02:54all of the seasons, which is nice, and then the bonus disc, so yeah, so, we run into the
03:19first problem that I have with this set is the fact that it, okay, for one this is just
03:23a repackaging of all the discs from the individual releases, which is whatever, but then the,
03:29all of the disc holders have stacked discs, with at least three discs, why? Why is this
03:39like this? Okay, so, for season two, there's three discs, for season one there's only one,
03:46because there was only, like, I think five episodes, I guess? Each disc has about five
03:52episodes on them, I guess? But then, the rest of the seasons have four discs per season, because
04:00of the increased episode counts. Why? Why is this like this? You know, a perfectly fine system with
04:09individual DVD cases for the first, or for the original releases of these, yeah. Yeah, so, I kind
04:17of rearranged some of these discs from how they were when this came to me. I think a couple of
04:24the discs from some later seasons, like, one of them was out of order, but yeah. Yeah, so, season
04:34one, disc one with Jerry right there, season two disc one with Elaine, season two disc two with
04:41George, season three disc, or season two disc three with Kramer, but yeah. And if you don't know why I
04:51don't like stacked discs, stacked discs can easily cause scratches to the bottoms of the discs that
04:58are on top of the others. With Blu-ray, at the very least, you have the scratch-resistant coating
05:06on the bottom of the discs. DVDs don't have that. So, it's just annoying. So, yeah, it's season three, disc one,
05:17disc two, disc three, disc four. I do like that it is just these, like, PNGs of the main cast
05:32numbers from when they did, like, principal photography and everything for these promo
05:39images. So, season four, disc one, two, and three. And disc four for season four. Season five, disc one, and disc two.
05:57Season five, disc three, and disc four. Season six, disc one.
06:27Season six, disc two, three, and four.
06:38Ugh, this is also always why I hate stacked discs. I have to get them out of the individual
06:44holders to show them to you guys.
06:46So, season seven, disc one, two, and three. I'll be completely honest though, they do have a consistency with how the characters are ordered on each disc on each season.
07:03Season seven, disc four. Season eight, disc one, two, and three. You can put up to four discs in these though,
07:12which I may have to... I'm not gonna do that right now. I'm just gonna...
07:23I just have these three discs right there. I think that was just an accident from when I was
07:31re-stacking these discs.
07:34So yeah. Or actually, yeah, I may have to wait until after I'm done doing this to properly re-do this.
07:45Season eight, disc four. Season nine, disc one, and disc two.
07:56Season nine, disc three, disc four.
07:58And the bonus disc with the round table.
08:08Yeah, I'm gonna... I'm just gonna re-do how those are stacked,
08:13how all these are stacked off-camera when I'm done with this. But yeah.
08:29So yeah. So that's basically it for this set. I do recommend it because it's basically the only way to get all the series on disc.
08:49I'm really hoping that Sony will re-release the series on Blu-ray,
08:54because they have the show in HD. However, I hope that when they do, they release the show in 4x3,
09:05not in the cropped 16x9. Because if you didn't know, when they started remastering the show in HD,
09:12and they put it in the syndication, the show was filmed, I think it was filmed on 35mm film,
09:20but outside of like... For some reason they had certain shots from the pilot that
09:29they couldn't locate, so they just reused the standard F-masters, not even really properly
09:34color corrected or anything. But they also cropped the show into widescreen, because it was filmed
09:42in the 4x3 aspect ratio, but then cropped to widescreen, meaning that the tops and bottoms
09:47are cut off. So I hope that they use... They clearly would have had to have saved the 4x3
09:52masters of those, because they downscaled them to 480p for these discs, so I don't know. I'm
09:58just hoping that when they do eventually release the series on Blu-ray, that they use the 4x3
10:03masters and not the 16x9 ones, because that would suck. Granted though, they released the show with
10:11the 16x9 masters on iTunes, so... Slash Apple TV, so... We'll see what happens there, but yeah.
10:23So yeah, so it's not... It's just like when the first like, I think 19 and change seasons of
10:31The Simpsons were cropped to 16x9 on Disney+, and then when they heard the outcry about that,
10:41and people wanting the 4x3 versions on Disney+, they eventually did get the 4x3 masters on there,
10:47which was good, but yeah. But yeah, so not really much else to say, so link's in the description
10:55on this shit, subscribe for more, and I'll see you guys in the next one.
