00:05We've seen this battle with Kansas and Missouri going on for sports betting now

00:08over the last couple of years, even some threats about the Chiefs leaving

00:13Missouri tied to going to sports betting in Kansas.

00:16I mean crazy stories here, but you know Pat every once in a while we check

00:20in and I ask you is the same guy filibustering you say yes, and then I

00:23feel like just moving on.

00:24I don't I don't know if that's going to be the case again.

00:27No, so we're coming into the last stretch here in the ballot petition effort

00:33that they're you know, they've been trying for last fall.

00:36They the sports teams led by the Cardinals began a ballot push to get it

00:40on the ballot in November 2024.

00:42Of course, that's only a few months away here and you know, there's 13

00:47more days until we see well, no 10 more days until we get the official

00:52word of whether or not it will be on the ballot earlier this week local

00:56election officials turned in the signature counts.

01:00They need a hundred and seventy thousand verified signatures and they

01:04turned in I'm in May 300 and some thousand signatures.

01:08So you have to imagine at least most of those are real.

01:11I don't know why they would turn it in early if they weren't real.

01:14But anyway, the the Secretary of State's office needs to verify that

01:21that's enough signatures by August 13th.

01:24And if it is they'll rob your stamp it and Missourians will get to vote

01:27in November on whether or not sports betting is going to go to the show

01:31me state to your point.

01:33The legislator has just been real slow to go on there.

01:37You know, it was a couple years ago as you mentioned it seemed like

01:39Kansas and Missouri were racing to see which one you know got off the

01:43ground first Kansas as well on their way and have been betting for

01:47several years now.

01:49Missouri is still sitting there because there's one senator who is

01:53just adamantly against passing a sports betting alone bill.

01:57He wants to add video lottery terminals, which is just not a non-starter

02:01in the rest of the legislature.

02:03So despite it getting through the house with overwhelming support one

02:07senator can derail an entire process and so they've been sitting there

02:11a couple years.

02:12They've been sitting there a couple of years waiting to see what could

02:15happen.

02:16Well Missourians might get to vote.

02:17It seems like there is enough support in the public, you know earlier

02:22this year.

02:22We saw a poll that said 62% of Missourians would support sports

02:26betting to go to support education in the state, which is what the

02:30poll would say but then more recently.

02:33We've seen a couple polls that are more split.

02:35You know, there was one that was like 34% for 32% against and then

02:40the rest were undecided who knows where those undecideds are leaning.

02:45So it will be something to kind of pay attention to as we get to

02:48November.

02:49It could be a close vote, but we'll see I would I would kind of edge

02:55toward they will get it done in November.
