‘Art & Putt’ mini golf pop-up at Gunwharf Quays

00:00My name is Tina Ziegler, I'm the Curator and Creative Director of Art & Putt, this project

00:21that we have here today at Gunworth Pease in the main plaza of the Shopping Centre.

00:26Experience is a wonderful game of mini golf but with a twist, it's inspired by contemporary and

00:33modern art. So every hole introduces you to a contemporary modern painter and an iconic artist

00:40of our times including the likes of Frida Kahlo from Mexico, Basquiat from New York, Keith Haring

00:47from New York, David Hockney from the UK. So each hole is not only just really vibrant, full of colour

00:54but it also educates the public about art. I really wanted to choose artists that people could

01:01recognize quickly but also some that might be a little bit more quirky that you had to educate

01:05yourselves on while you're here. So I think art is such a great way to impact people, to break down

01:12barriers, to engage people with new subject matters and art is really a way to connect people

01:18and everything we do here is about creating memorable moments and this is really all about

01:23creating impact, creating something fun with you and your friends to do over the weekend

01:27and just having a great time while being surrounded by beautiful sculptures, art and loads

01:32of colour. So every hole has been designed with an artist in mind and kind of looking at their

01:38paintings and their painting styles, right? So with David Hockney we literally have the splash

01:43painting as a whole which is one of his most iconic paintings. With Kusama, she's known for

01:48her pumpkin so of course we needed to include one of her giant three-dimensional pumpkins into

01:53the hole and Frida, you know, with her big eyebrows and her head full of flowers, like it's such an

01:59iconic image so we really wanted to pull those memorable, iconic pieces from art history and

02:05bring them to life. So it's on all summer here at Gumworth Keys from opening tomorrow all the way

02:18and see where we can take it next and but it really is about seeing how the public responds,

02:23how people create memories over the next couple weeks and what the public says about it.
