Gaza ceasefire deal on the table, Kamala Harris says

Vice-President Kamala Harris spoke with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said a ceasefire and hostage deal is on the table.

00:00Thanks to the leadership of our President Joe Biden, there is a deal on the table for a ceasefire and a hostage deal.

00:07And it is important that we recall what the deal involves.

00:12The first phase of the deal would bring about a full ceasefire,

00:17including a withdrawal of the Israeli military from population centers in Gaza.

00:23In the second phase, the Israeli military would withdraw from Gaza entirely,

00:29and it would lead to a permanent end to the hostilities.

00:34It is time for this war to end, and to end in a way where Israel is secure,

00:40all the hostages are released, the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza ends,

00:47and the Palestinian people can exercise their right to freedom, dignity, and self-determination.

00:55There has been hopeful movement in the talks to secure an agreement on this deal.

01:01And as I just told Prime Minister Netanyahu, it is time to get this deal done.
