00:12According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service, our planet reached a global average of 62.9 degrees Fahrenheit.

00:21However, it includes not only the Southern Hemisphere, which is currently experiencing winter,
00:25but it also includes our planet's polar regions, ones which should remain frigid year-round.
00:31Copernicus tracks global temperatures via satellite data, noting both air and sea temperatures in real-time.
00:37And the agency says summer is still heading towards its peak in the Northern Hemisphere,
00:41meaning this record could still be broken this year.
00:44This comes after a winter of record-setting highs in the Arctic as well.
00:48Climate scientist Joyce Kimutai has now issued what is essentially an I-told-you-so-to-the-world,
00:53saying in a recent statement,
