00:00So, didn't like school at all whatsoever, ended up asking a couple of friends if they knew any
00:06salons that were looking for apprentices. I had one friend that was working at a salon as a tea
00:11and tidy, so started working there or went in there for an interview and I basically got hired
00:16on the spot. Picked up hairdressing relatively quickly but that salon didn't really work for
00:22me so I moved to a different salon, Moenco and Tuggeranong, and then was there for about a year
00:28and a half and then went from there and was in the Moenco in Gungahlin for a couple of years
00:34and then took a little bit of a break from hair and then jumped back into hair after COVID and
00:40here I am now, yeah. My own salon, it feels a bit surreal, like it's scary but it's also fun,
00:48like it's exciting and every day can be different, you know, you get different sort of people that
00:52are coming in but I think it's just being able to talk to everybody that comes in and being able to
01:00have a conversation with different people from different walks of life, it's really nice and
01:03then for people to leave with fabulous hair and feel good about themselves, yeah. Well, I don't
01:08know, if I can do it, everyone can do it and the goal is to inspire young people to want to get
01:13into, I guess, creative industry where you can use it as an outlet, like if you're having a crappy
01:17day, you come to work, you make somebody's hair like absolutely fabulous and then you see them
01:23walk out so happy, I think like just being able to inspire young people to do that, I think,
01:30yeah, that's just the goal in general, so determination, the right support but also
01:35knowing why you're doing what you're doing, like if you don't have a why, then when the bad days come
01:41you don't know, like you don't have something to pull back and be like, okay, why the hell am I
01:45doing this, it's like the reason why I'm doing it is because I've got my daughter and I want to show
01:50her that, you know, we've got this, if I can do it, you can do it too, yeah, I did it, good job,
01:58keep going, there's more to come, yeah, Bentleys and Birkins, baby!
