00:00That's unfortunate that he just keeps, he keeps coming up with these ankle injuries

00:06here the last two weeks during the summer league.

00:08Yeah, well, what's weird for me is, is that he really never, let's face facts, got injured

00:15at Purdue.

00:16He played every game and he played 40 minutes a game and he never came out of any NCAA tournament

00:22games.

00:23Uh, the guy was like an iron horse for the Boilermakers and here he is in summer league.

00:28He's gone down at least twice and I'm concerned because, you know, the theory around here

00:35is we don't like to talk about knees, ankles, or Achilles.

00:39I just don't like those topics, especially being a basketball player myself, right?

00:47Like so a month ago I hurt my knee, I hyperextended it, I sprained it, I thought I tore my meniscus,

00:55I felt a pop, a bad one.

00:58I landed and I literally went through a, like a bad five day stretch of like compression

01:05on it and, and a massage on it and all kinds of stuff on it.

01:09And I know that, I'm just saying from my experience, I'm one, I'm one away from being finished.

01:14I mean, I'm 59 years old here in a couple of weeks.

01:16You're going to get older in a couple of weeks and I can't afford a knee injury or a ankle

01:22or an Achilles.

01:23I'd be done.

01:24If I had an ACL and was out a year, I would never come back and play.

01:29My other buddy's my age and he came back after an ACL after a year and he's playing again.

01:34And I don't think I want to do that, to be honest with you, because it's, well, I mean,

01:39what's next?

01:40You're going to tear the other one?

01:41It takes a year.

01:42And if it's a meniscus, it's like, you know, eight weeks at least of getting it scoped.

01:48So I'm worried about ED.

01:50Once you roll it once, the ankle keeps rolling.

01:54It comes back to haunt you.

01:55It's like the never ending injury.

01:57I guarantee you, I don't believe for one minute mess, he's playing in two games down in Miami.

02:03His ankle was the size of a football at that Copa final.

02:07And all I know is ankles don't heal in two days.

02:11They don't heal in two games.

02:12And I think he's going to have problems with that ankle this year.

02:15And I think that'll bum me out.

02:18Well, I think the good thing is, is that hopefully, you know, you're still two and a half months

02:23away from serious training camp.

02:26Right.

02:27And as much as we talk about these guys all a lot during the off season, you know, when

02:31you've had this now the past two and a half weeks, if I was them, I would tell Edie, uh,

02:36you know, no ball for a month, six weeks, they stopped playing for a month or two because

02:42they play for eight, they play for eight, nine months a year.
