00:08Newsweek reports that the average person will usually have around 6,200 thoughts in one
00:13day.
00:14Psychology experts at Queen's University in Canada determined this after creating a
00:17way to find out when one thought ends and another starts.
00:20The findings, published in the journal Nature Communications, describes a thought worm,
00:24or when a human focuses on one idea.
00:26When a person moves on to a new thought, they make a new thought worm, creating a pattern
00:30scientists can detect.
00:32Previously, researchers have tried to use brain imaging to figure out what someone's
00:35thinking about, which is as hard as it sounds.
00:37But this new method helps researchers detect when a person is thinking, without regard
00:41to what the thought is.
00:42This could help test how our brain patterns are influenced by external factors and possibly
00:46help detect disorders like ADHD or even schizophrenia in the future.
