Jerry Rice got so ticked off at a pair of reporters on a golf course on Thursday ... he actually threatened to rough them up -- and the heated altercation was all caught on video, obtained by TMZ Sports.

00:07Mojo, Jerry Rice, according to many, many football fans,

00:11is the greatest football player to ever step foot on a field.

00:15The NFL legend had a tense interaction

00:19with some media members at a charity golf tournament, Mojo,

00:24last week, late last week.

00:25Of course, we've talked a lot about this American Century

00:30Golf Championship going down in Lake Tahoe.

00:32This tournament gets all of the biggest stars,

00:35from Travis Kelsey to the aforementioned Jerry Rice.

00:40Mojo, this interaction was caught on camera.

00:44You're going to see here, and we're

00:46going to show it to you in just a second,

00:48Jerry Rice walking on the golf course

00:51when two guys who are media members, they approach Jerry

00:55and they ask him, which seems like a pretty harmless

00:59question, not so much, according to Jerry.

01:06I'm going to take it right now, OK?

01:11I don't want to ask.

01:20It's the craziest thing that's ever happened in my life.

01:23Well, what did you ask him?

01:24I asked him if the Chief's Receiving Corps was good enough

01:26to win another Super Bowl.

01:34He said, I don't know if that's right, man.

01:38He didn't look at anybody else.

01:40He was going, nope, that's it.

01:51Mojo, I talked to Jerry Rice.

01:54Friday afternoon.

01:55And I asked him, hey, what happened?

01:58Guess what Jerry Rice said.

01:59Jerry Rice said, Mojo, they asked him if the Chief's wide receivers

02:02were good enough to win another Super Bowl next year.

02:05And Jerry then, and this is one of the quotes that he gave me,

02:08I'm going to defend the San Francisco 49ers.

02:13Jerry then went on to say that he thought that the 49ers fans

02:16would love the reaction.

02:17Might be the case.

02:19I don't know.

02:20I haven't seen many 49ers fans weighing in on the reaction here.

02:24A lot of people talking about the video.

02:26Maybe they love it.

02:27Maybe they don't.

02:28I am shocked, though, Mojo, that Jerry Rice seemed to be,

02:31I don't know, be that set off by an innocuous, in my mind,

02:35at least, an innocuous question.

02:37Babcock, can we take one more look at him walking up to this

02:41interviewer?

02:42I got to analyze this walk.

02:44I mean, are we looking upset here?

02:47You think he's ticked off from something earlier because I was

02:50wondering.

02:51It's a charity golf tournament.

02:53Maybe he's playing like crap.

02:54Maybe he feels like he let down the charity with his play and he

02:58just was in a really bad mood prior to this because I don't

03:03understand how that question could be the one thing that makes

03:09Jerry Rice, of all people, lose his cool.

03:12I mean, we are talking about a guy who,

03:15as far as I'm aware, never gets into trouble,

03:19that had no issues whatsoever.

03:23That is the epitome of cool, calm,

03:26and collected.

03:27I mean, that's certainly how he played on the football for all

03:30those years, putting up those numbers and breaking all those

03:33records.

03:34So, something is absolutely not adding up.

03:38Right.

03:39And they obviously lost to the Chiefs.

03:41So, I understand there might be a little sensitivity there,

03:43Mojo.

03:44But yeah, I mean, Jerry, he even literally said to me,

03:46Mojo, he said, wouldn't you be upset like this if somebody

03:49questioned your football team?

03:51Not really.

03:52Not really.

03:53Did you tell him no?

03:55I did.

03:56I made a joke.

03:57But yeah.

03:58Essentially, yeah, that's what I said.

04:01I wouldn't have this reaction.

04:03You know, I mean, it's football.

04:06I mean, it's a game at the end of the day.

04:09I don't know, Mojo.

04:10I guess the one silver lining here is that Jerry walked away

04:13and thankfully there was this guy here to keep the peace and

04:17Jerry went amongst, you know, went in one direction.

04:21The guys stayed where they were and there was nothing physical

04:23that came from this.

04:24I will also say, Mojo, that it seemed like this didn't ruin

04:27Jerry's day.

04:28He actually went out later that night and there is Jerry Rice

04:32dancing only a few hours after this incident happened at one of

04:36the local clubs.

04:37So, he was having a good time.

04:39Mojo, Jerry looks forward to this.

04:41And I know that for a fact because we have seen him at the

04:44American Century Championship going back years,

04:48almost a decade ago.

04:50And this is one of my favorite videos that we've ever had here

04:52at TMC Sports.

04:53There is Jerry Rice who was like,

04:55you know, 51, 52 at the time, taking off his shirt,

04:58still in tremendous shape by the way,

05:00and dancing with a lady on stage at the same tournament.

05:05So, he loves this.

05:06He has fun.

05:07And then he almost got into a fight on the golf course,

05:11So, I don't know how he tops next year's tournament.
