A Tasmanian court has heard evidence from a woman who alleges Supreme Court judge Gregory Geason assaulted her and subjected to her to emotional abuse and intimidation. Justice Geason has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his lawyers told the judge there is an innocent explanation for the alleged actions.

00:00From Supreme Court judge to defendant, Gregory Gheeson entered the magistrate's court in Hobart today, obscured by his umbrella.
00:10Inside, his alleged victim, who cannot be named, took the witness stand, claiming Justice Gheeson could become verbally nasty.
00:18He would just become very hateful and spiteful towards me and call me slut and tell me I wasn't worth anything.
00:25Sometimes he would call me slut time and time and time again.
00:29She said he would track her movements using a phone app.
00:32The court also heard details of an alleged assault. Prosecutor Neil Hutton claiming Justice Gheeson hit her to the chest with his hands.
00:40He then suddenly pushed her chest to cause her to stumble backwards and hit her head.
00:45Justice Gheeson will maintain he didn't deliberately strike or injure the woman.
00:51In his opening remarks, Justice Gheeson's lawyer, Tom Percy Casey, said he'd argue there were innocent explanations for his client's actions
00:59and that the woman's bruising after the alleged assault was accentuated by blood-thinning medication.
01:06The court heard that after the alleged assault, Justice Gheeson googled,
01:10Help me, I'm abusive, and best songs to say sorry.
01:14The hearing will continue tomorrow.
