00:00Which shows will be celebrating when the 2024 Emmy nominations are announced next week?
00:04The Hollywood Reporter's awards expert Scott Feinberg is sharing his forecast.
00:09Now that voting is closed, THR's awards expert is revealing his updated predictions
00:13one week ahead of the nominations being announced on July 17th.
00:17How did this forecast come to be? Think of Feinberg like a meteorologist.
00:21His aim is to correctly predict what will happen,
00:24not to advocate for what he thinks should happen.
00:26His picks are arrived at by sampling contenders, consulting voters,
00:30analyzing campaigns, and studying the results of past Emmy seasons.
00:33According to Feinberg, we are poised for yet another year in which the nominations
00:37will be dominated by only a handful of shows from only a handful of platforms,
00:41among them FX's drama Shogun and comedy The Bear,
00:45as well as Netflix's limited series Baby Reindeer and Ripley.
00:48However, he says there are some wildcards to consider, especially among dramas.
00:52In a year with few returning contenders, could rookies like Amazon's Fallout,
00:56Netflix's Three-Body Problem, or Showtime's The Curse
00:59exceed expectations and rack up high nom tallies? We'll find out in just a few days.
01:04But first, let's take a look at the top categories.
01:07For Best Drama Series, Feinberg predicts the frontrunners are
01:09Shogun, The Crown, The Gilded Age, Fallout, The Morning Show,
01:14Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Curse, and Three-Body Problem.
01:18For Best Comedy Series, the forecasted frontrunners are
