00:00Alina, a tough day today. Just give us your thoughts on that match.
00:06Yeah, it was extremely tough today.
00:10Well, I tried everything that was in my power today,
00:15but nothing really was working so much.
00:21But, yeah, she was striking the ball well,
00:24so I think it also didn't really let me into the match.
00:29Questions?
00:34It seemed like it was very competitive until 4-3 on your serve.
00:39I'm just curious how you felt that match shifted,
00:42like how you played in the following five games and how she played.
00:46Yeah, of course, it was quite tough the first seven games.
00:55It was a few chances for me here and there to get into the match.
00:59Of course, break, first game, then I didn't serve so well.
01:03But, you know, Elena, she's a big striker,
01:06and she's not letting you so much into the match as well.
01:16So, yeah, for me, it was missed chances for me a little bit
01:20at the beginning of that first set,
01:22and then she started serving much better,
01:25started to strike the ball really well.
01:28I mean, the game that she broke me in the first set,
01:32she hit like four great returns,
01:36even though I served first serve.
01:41Yeah, it was tough for me to do anything on those balls.
01:45She just played really well that game,
01:47and then she has a big serve,
01:49so, yeah, sometimes it goes like this, especially on grass.
01:53Charlie?
01:54I just wondered how demoralizing that is,
01:57how tough it is to try and stay positive
01:59when she's playing so efficiently, serving really well,
02:02and, as you say, returning like that.
02:04Yeah, it's very, very difficult
02:07because I feel like I'm in a good form.
02:11I feel like I played really good tennis.
02:14And then, of course, you know,
02:18when your opponent is striking the ball that big,
02:21everything goes in, serve, you know, goes really quick,
02:26and a lot of aces, it's tough to do anything.
02:30You know, I was trying to dig, trying to fight,
02:34trying to get my chances back, but she didn't really let me.
02:38So I think it was a really clean match from her side, yeah.
02:43Do you have a question?
02:44Liz Perkins, Daily Express.
02:46I know today wasn't an easy day for you,
02:48but I just wondered what it was like
02:50to have the Queen there in the royal box watching,
02:52given the fact that our royal family
02:54is so supportive of Vladimir Zelensky in your country.
02:58To be fair, I didn't know.
03:01Yes, it's very sad for me
03:04because, you know, I couldn't win this match today in front of her.
03:09But, of course, it's such a big privilege, you know,
03:12to play in Wimbledon in front of the Queen,
03:16even though I didn't know.
03:17But, yeah, the support that Ukraine has been getting
03:21from the United Kingdom has been really unbelievable.
03:25And, you know, we couldn't thank enough
03:29for all the people as well that let a lot of Ukrainians
03:34use their homes and, you know,
03:38share their homes with them.
03:43So, of course, you know, it's something bigger than a sport.
03:48It's just unbelievable support
03:51that all the Ukrainians got from England.
03:55Did you have a question at the back?
03:56No, my question was just...
03:57Oh, OK. No problem.
03:59Hi, Aline.
04:00You've obviously played at a really high level
04:01over the last two weeks.
04:03But Monday was a really emotional day.
04:05I mean, how has it been to prepare for this match,
04:07given what happened in Ukraine on Monday?
04:11Well, for me, of course, it was a difficult day on Monday,
04:15but then I had a day off yesterday,
04:19had a good practice as well,
04:21tried to prepare my very best.
04:23Actually, I was feeling not too bad physically as well.
04:27I could recover, but, yeah, as I said,
04:30today's match went really, really quick.
04:33And sometimes, you know, it's these kind of days
04:35where you're not playing your best,
04:37your opponent is playing great,
04:39and you don't have so many chances.
04:41I mean, I had maybe one or two chances
04:43maybe to get back into the match,
04:45but they just...
04:50They were just, yeah...
04:54So few of them, and I didn't take them.
04:58So, yeah, it was a difficult day in the office today.
05:03Any further English questions, Giovanni?
05:06You talked about...
05:08In Rome, you're talking about how physically difficult
05:11the season has been.
05:12I'm curious just after good results at Roland-Garros
05:15and here, how you're feeling,
05:17how that's developed physically.
05:20Yes, so after Roland-Garros,
05:23I did some manipulation for my back,
05:25and it's much better now.
05:27I'm feeling much better.
05:30Like, physically, I can handle a few matches in a row,
05:33and even here, you know, with the rain delays,
05:36I had a couple of days where I had to play back-to-back,
05:40and I was really happy the way that my body responded
05:43and really looking forward to the second part of the season.
05:48Now that I feel healthy,
05:49I can practice longer than one hour a day
05:52and feel good.
05:54I feel good with my movement, you know, also with my serve.
05:58I feel like I improved quite a lot,
06:00but, yeah, just try to do all the routine work for my back,
06:06for my ankle as well,
06:08and try to take some days off
06:11after the good run that I had here
06:15and reset and go,
06:17because, you know, Olympics on clay,
06:19then Toronto on heart,
06:21and a long season still ahead of us,
06:24so I have to take care of my body
06:26and just try to take every moment to reset again and go.
06:38Go on, it's fine.
06:39On Elena, you've played many great servers,
06:43like Serena and others.
06:45Where does she rank in terms of a server, do you feel?
06:48Well, for sure, I mean, top five,
06:51it's a great serve that she has.
06:56I feel like, you know, Serena as well, you know,
07:02was an unbelievable server.
07:07I think Elena is someone that also returns quite good,
07:15you know, especially on grass.
07:17I mean, grass is such a difficult surface already to return,
07:23and then when you have someone who hits the spots good,
07:28it's extremely difficult.
07:32Elena, you've been a great advocate for Ukraine this week,
07:34and the words that you said after your last match
07:37won a lot of plaudits across the UK,
07:39and I just wondered if we have a new government
07:41and a new prime minister in the UK at the moment,
07:43is there anything that you would say to him
07:46about the UK's support for Ukraine and its forces?
07:53I think, I hope he's aware, you know,
07:59what the help that we got before from the government before,
08:06and I hope this will continue because it's really important for us,
08:11and every day it's not getting easy,
08:17it's not getting easier, it's getting really tougher and tougher for us,
08:22and hopefully, you know, the support will continue,
08:26and I feel like we got unbelievable support before,
08:33and I hope this will continue really because it's super important for us.
08:41Thanks for watching!
