00:00I definitely not the way I wanted to finish the match but really happy to play in the
00:09quarters.
00:10Hi Elena, congrats on your win.
00:13Fizan here from Quartershot.
00:14You've won 18 out of your 20 matches here at Wimbledon and now your win percentage is
00:18over 90%.
00:19So you've joined Anne Jones and Steffi Graf in that club.
00:22Any thoughts?
00:23Okay, I didn't know about these stats.
00:25I know that I've been winning a lot on grass but it's nice to be next to these names with
00:33these statistics and I think it's great to be there and really happy to show good tennis
00:46on grass.
00:47Elena, I'm not sure if you know this either but you are the only former winner who's still
00:53in the draw.
00:54You're also the highest seed remaining.
00:56Is that a pressure or is that an advantage that you know that you've done this before
00:59and no one else has?
01:01Well I don't really think about this when I go on the court and of course it gives more
01:08confidence but no matter what there is still a lot of good players and as I say I don't
01:14really think about it so much.
01:16Willy?
01:17Sure.
01:18You're also the person that many people are saying with all these other players who have
01:24fallen is the heavy favourite to win the tournament.
01:28How does that make you feel?
01:30Well it feels good of course if people think so and I mean it's still far to go to the
01:39final.
01:40Still a lot of matches in front and as I always say it's just match by match and we'll see
01:48how it goes but definitely I want to go far and try to win it.
01:54Elena, how do you see yourself as a player compared to when you were here two years ago?
01:59Do you feel the same or do you think that you've changed some things?
02:04Well definitely I've changed a lot.
02:06I got much more experience and I think before going further in the draw I was pretty nervous
02:15in 2022 but now I feel just more confidence playing match by match and it is different
02:24but at the same time when you go on the court you're still nervous a little bit but I think
02:32now with all the experiences I just enjoy much more on the court and if I'm nervous
02:38it's just the first few games not like it was in 2022 when I played against Onsen it
02:46was full set when I just couldn't manage my emotions I was too nervous and then slowly
02:52slowly I started to feel better.
02:55Yes on that because you have spoken so openly in the past about being nervous I think you
03:00said every game at Wimbledon has that got better these championships have you felt it
03:05every game and what are your coping strategies?
03:10Well I think last two matches like today and the previous one I played really well and
03:15I was less nervous of course than beginning of the tournament I think every tournament
03:19you start it's like first rounds are very tough and you are more nervous than the other
03:26matches and yeah because I just played two very solid matches I think I played really
03:34well so it gives more confidence and you kind of know what to do on the court and you are
03:40more free I would say.
03:43Sami?
03:44Elena you're often asked about why you don't celebrate after matches do you think one day
03:49you'll have some enormous celebration on court some big role or anything like that?
03:53Well I honestly don't know it's I think depends a lot on the match how it goes but for now
03:59I didn't have any crazy celebration so maybe one day you will see it guys.
04:05Looking ahead to your next match against Fidelina what are your thoughts about her game and
04:11what the challenge is for you in facing her?
04:14Well she's a tough opponent she reads the game well she defends pretty good some slices
04:21here and there and it's not going to be easy of course but if I play aggressive and I'm
04:28going to serve well I have all the chances to win of course so I will try to focus on
04:33myself and see how it goes.
04:36What do you remember most about your matches with her?
04:39Well last time we played just now at French Open it's different surface of course depends
04:45how she's going to come out on the court maybe she tries to play more aggressive since it's
04:49a grass court so we will see also try to watch maybe her matches here to see how it
04:59was but definitely going to be tough one and I just try to stick to my game plan to stay
05:06aggressive to come to the net and yeah definitely I need to serve well.
05:12Any further English questions?
05:14Just quickly on you coming to the net are you getting more and more comfortable as the
05:18championships goes on at the net?
05:20Well it all depends on the score I would say depends on the opponent and of course if there
05:28is days like I played against Caroline and everything goes in of course there I feel
05:33more comfortable to come to the net and so it's moments and moments and of course I'm
05:38trying to manage it and find the best the best solution and the best opportunity when
05:47to come forward and for now it's been going okay maybe not that often I was coming but
05:54every time I was at the net it was quite successful.
