00:00Former first-class cricketer Mohammad Haroon, who has been a coach for Denmark and Austria,
00:07is now coaching in the Gulf.
00:11He is the first player and coach of the English board's Level 4 coaching course.
00:19Let's talk to him.
00:20Haroon, if I ask you about Pakistan's system, what needs to be done to improve it?
00:27The PCB needs to encourage as many stakeholders as possible,
00:33and make them functional.
00:35For example, it is a good thing that the departmental cricket has started again.
00:40It will gain strength.
00:42You will have one stakeholder, the departments,
00:45and one stakeholder, the associations, where the elected people will come.
00:49You review the constitution.
00:51If something is not functional, you review it.
00:56Being a head of cricket, you make changes in the constitution.
01:03Another important stakeholder is PSL, or Franchise Cricket.
01:11I think they are doing a great job.
01:14Haroon, tell me a difficult question.
01:17Does Pakistan have talent in cricket or not?
01:20It is a myth in Pakistan.
01:24When a Pakistani team does well, they say that they have a lot of talent.
01:29When a team does not do well, they say that they do not have talent.
01:32Both these things are being said by the same people.
01:35I don't think that talent has anything to do with it.
01:40Talent is not for a particular country or a particular era.
01:45Talent comes and how you tap it, how you groom it, how you nurture it.
01:52If your system is not robust, if it is not modernized,
01:56then you will feel that you do not have talent.
01:59The boys you see in Pakistan, our good players,
02:04they do not come with a system.
02:06They are self-coaches.
02:07There is a mentor behind them.
02:10There is a club member.
02:12There is an association.
02:15People do not come out of the coaching staff of the PCB.
02:21I will give you another example.
02:23The head coaches of Pakistan have been great bowlers.
02:29They do reverse swing.
02:31But have you ever seen a reverse swing bowler in a Pakistani team?
02:37After that, spinners came, but Pakistan did not even create a spinner.
02:42In your current team, which you call a spinner,
02:45someone's ball does not even spin, so you call it a spinner.
02:49So these are very common things.
02:52You will have to focus a little on them.
02:55And if things are going wrong, then identify them.
02:58And do it openly and honestly.
03:01If your intention is good, if there is honesty, then everything is fine.
03:05Mr. Haroon, thank you very much.
03:07You were sharing your opinion about talent in Pakistan.
03:09How can the system be improved?
03:11In the meantime, tell you that Spain defeated France
03:14and qualified for the Euro Cup final.
03:17Today is the second semifinal between the Netherlands and England.
03:21It will be a very exciting competition.
03:23We will talk about this in detail tomorrow.
