Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has directed all ministers and the Chief Secretary to the Government to diligently monitor the conditions of villages across the country to enhance the well-being of villagers.
Speaking at the launch of the national-level Kampung Angkat Madani 2024 programme at Kampung Chengal Lempong, Balok on Saturday (July 6), Anwar clarified that while daily monitoring is not required, officials should check in once a month or every two months to ensure that village development is not neglected.

00:00The village of Madani, the Prime Minister, the Minister, the KSN, the KSU, and later on the leaders of the country,
00:12all the high-ranking officials were asked to take one village as their high-ranking village.
00:20If, for example, the KSN feels that it is neglected,
00:25we assign it to the KSN,
00:27to take care of all the public officials,
00:29one million people,
00:31to provide the foundation,
00:33to provide the guidance,
00:35to provide the rules.
00:37That's right.
00:38But in the end,
00:40they were also asked to go down to their original village,
00:43or their chosen village,
00:45and determine,
00:46what are the hundreds of plans that were proposed.
00:50The children,
00:52their meals,
00:54their jobs,
00:56their school fees,
00:58their computers at school,
01:00how many of them have breast cancer,
01:02who are breast cancer patients,
01:04how many of them are unemployed,
01:06are there any cases of child abuse,
01:09or women,
01:11in that village.
01:15Then,
01:16what about the TVET program,
01:18if the children don't have access,
01:21opportunities,
01:22are there any suggestions to go to TVET?
01:26Are there any TVET places available?
01:30All of this
01:32must be thought of
01:34by a KSN,
01:37specifically for that village.
01:40So, you see,
01:42in this way,
01:44we are not only speaking from above,
01:46but we know the problem.
01:48I was asked
01:50to take care of my village,
01:53Corot Tokkun, Bukit Pentajam.
01:55Even though I was born in Sungai Bakap,
01:57but I grew up in
01:59Corot Tokkun, Bukit Pentajam.
02:02So, I've had three meetings with them.
02:05The imam and the head of the mosque,
02:07the head of the village,
02:09his association,
02:10the association of silat,
02:12as well as women,
02:14all kinds of women's movements.
02:17And we gather them,
02:20and we ask their opinions,
02:22and ask them to provide input to improve.
02:25This is the meaning of the people's economy.
02:29And where are the people?
02:31In fact, the people.
02:32If not, we have a plan above,
02:34high spending.
02:36In the parliament a few days ago,
02:38I mentioned how many subsidies,
02:40we sent to the people.
02:42For STR, Tunai Rahmah,
02:4410 billion ringgit per year,
02:46which we sent directly to the people.
02:49This is an addition from before.
02:52For farmers, for fishermen,
02:54for small farms.
02:56In fact, there are big projects
02:58that have to be implemented.
03:00Flooding areas,
03:02Terengganu, Kelantan,
03:04several areas of Johor,
03:06Kedah, Sabah,
03:08are heavily affected by flooding.
03:10So they are forced to spend,
03:13tens of billions,
03:15for flood areas.
03:17And recently,
03:19for Perak,
03:21the need for the Perak River,
03:23there is a new high-tech project.
03:26And the water to Penang Island,
03:29that's 4 billion ringgit.
03:31Then, Kedah, Jelapang Padi,
03:34needs a new irrigation system.
03:37To improve,
03:39to increase the yield,
03:41of paddy,
03:43it needs 3 billion ringgit,
03:45in a new initiative.
03:47And I inform Mr. Sultan Kedah,
03:49and also the Prime Minister,
03:51the total from 3 has become
03:535 billion ringgit.
03:55Therefore, cooperation with the country
03:57is very important.
03:59Likewise, water supply programs,
04:01such as in Kelantan,
04:03which I have announced,
04:05and to be implemented,
04:07before the long-term projects,
04:09are carried out.
04:11Therefore,
04:13in addition,
04:15for the people's aid,
04:17it has reached 58 billion ringgit.
04:19It's not small.
04:21But in all of this,
04:23if it doesn't reach the bottom,
04:25we evaluate,
04:27and estimate,
04:29at the bottom level,
04:31of the paddy,
04:33it won't be affected.
04:35And people don't know.
04:37Because of this,
04:39the people's economy,
04:41sometimes we hear,
04:43nothing is done.
04:45There is no project at all,
04:47in this government.
04:49So it's better to see for yourself,
04:51and evaluate,
04:53if there is a positive view,
04:55or just a
04:57slander in politics.
04:59So we can evaluate.
05:01That's why I said,
05:03this is a team effort.
05:05It's not just me,
05:07the Ministerial Board,
05:09the Ministerial Committee,
05:11KSN, KPPA,
05:13the State Government,
05:15and members of the State Government.
05:17And the State Government,
05:19all officials,
05:21and the society as a whole.
