00:00or long-returning officer in my case, the election staff, the police and the security staff
00:05for all their efforts to ensure a fair and safe election and also to the other candidates as well
00:11who to play their part in that. It's not the outcome we wanted but clearly the people have
00:16spoken across the country and here in Chichester. I admire anybody who puts themselves forward to
00:25Parliament but we all understand how the system works, albeit it does appear more volatile than
00:31ever. I want to place on record my thanks to my amazing team who have worked so hard for the
00:38people here in Chichester, in the whole constituency. Thank you, you are amazing and
00:44also my agent Susan and for all those who have supported me. I wish everybody in Chichester
00:51and in our country the very best for the future and thank you for giving me the opportunity to
00:57serve you for the past seven years. This year will mark my 40th year of working full-time
01:04and I can honestly say I've loved every minute of serving the people of Chichester. I've given
01:10it my all and I've really enjoyed it, even the difficult bits like tonight. I wish my
01:17successor the very best as the new MP for Chichester and I want to thank you all for
01:23playing your part in democracy and I wish you all the very best for the future. Thank you.
