00:00Now that it's International Cooperative Day, we know the importance of this to the economy of our country.
00:05That's why we will be joined by the Deputy Administrator for Institutional Development Service of the Cooperative Development Authority or CDA, Ray Elevazo.
00:15And we will also be joined by the Senior Cooperative Development Specialist and Head of Cooperative Project Development and Assistance Section of the CDA NCR Office, Iserio Herrera Jr.
00:26But before that, let's watch this first.
00:30As a celebration of International Cooperative Day, we know the importance of cooperatives in our country
00:38so that the economy and democratic governance of the business can be promoted further.
00:46According to RA 9520 or the Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008,
00:52the help to people who are eager to improve their economic development is declared as a law.
00:59The Cooperative Development Authority is helping businesses to develop further.
01:05Their partnership with various government sectors is also included here.
01:10It is also one of their advocacy to improve the economy of the country by promoting the goods and services of Filipinos.
01:19Let's learn more about the other goals of the organization here in Rise and Shine, Philippines.
01:28Good morning sir Ray and good morning sir Iserio and welcome here in Rise and Shine, Philippines.
01:33Good morning.
01:34Good morning sir Rod.
01:35Good morning sir Audrey.
01:36Good morning.
01:37Good morning.
01:38All right.
01:39For our RSP to understand, our fellow Filipinos, what are cooperatives and what is their role in our country?
01:46Cooperatives are voluntary organizations of our people.
01:52They organize for economic development, they have income generating projects, business transactions,
01:59so that they can improve their lives.
02:04Cooperatives are for the people who are really trying to improve their lives.
02:12Sir Iserio, under your agency, CDA, what programs are being implemented?
02:18Under your agency, CDA, what programs are being implemented for the needs
02:23or for those who want to implement these cooperatives in different parts of the country?
02:28We have a lot of programs but what we highlight here,
02:32like our section of the department of sir Ray,
02:36what we do is we give funds to small and micro cooperatives.
02:44We call it Special Assistance for Poverty Alleviation
02:49and we have what we call a partnership with big cooperatives.
02:53We have a cooperative program whereby big cooperatives will adopt a small cooperative
03:00to help them technically.
03:01Sometimes they also give capital so that we can raise the price.
03:05And then, we have a co-op base for CDA.
03:08It's like a market platform where all the cooperatives are produced
03:13and we help them with assistance and logistics.
03:17If the cooperative is ordered, it will be delivered to the end user.
03:22CDA provides these platforms and apps.
03:26There are a lot of other things that CDA does
03:30to help our small cooperatives, small and micro cooperatives.
03:34For the knowledge of our countrymen who are not yet members of a cooperative,
03:38what is the value of this and what will be the benefit of an individual
03:43if he or she is a member of a cooperative?
03:45First of all, it's what we call empowerment.
03:48If you are a member of a cooperative, you have what we call a share capital.
03:54From there, it's like this is your investment in a cooperative.
04:00You contribute it so that it will be included in the various contributions of the members.
04:07We will combine it and we will launch the business that we are thinking of.
04:12And from that, our goal is of course to earn money.
04:17If we earn money, that's where our benefit will start.
04:21Our income will increase and we will be creative in our thinking.
04:31How can we improve our lives?
04:34After that, we will collaborate with other people.
04:37They will help us and we will also be helped.
04:40It is a system of mutual involvement, mutual assistance and service.
04:47So, empowerment is the first.
04:50And the cooperative is recognized by our law as an organization.
04:56So, the government can also help the cooperative.
05:01And from there, we will strengthen our partnership
05:05and our position as a person, as a member of a cooperative.
05:10Before, farmers were only focused on production.
05:14But now, they already have a business.
05:16They already know how to do marketing.
05:18So, there is value added to our partnership with a government.
05:22And they will find a way if they need it.
05:25Yes, that's the first thing.
05:27If this is a credit cooperative, for example,
05:30if we have a problem with our child's matriculation,
05:34there will be an emergency expenses.
05:38So, there is a cooperative.
05:40But that's just one.
05:41We have many types of cooperatives.
05:43It's just an addition, right?
05:45We see that there are many opportunities
05:47if you are part of a cooperative.
05:50But how many cooperatives are there, sir?
05:52And if they want to form a cooperative, what is the process?
05:56Our cooperative in the Philippines is 20,000.
06:00So, that's how many there are.
06:03And its membership is 12 million.
06:06So, there are many.
06:09If we want to organize a cooperative,
06:12we will go through the so-called pre-registration seminar.
06:16And from there, we will learn the requirements
06:19of registering a cooperative.
06:22One of them is the so-called submission of bylaws,
06:26the articles of cooperation.
06:28And then, we have a band of accountable officers.
06:32And then, there is an economic survey or feasibility study.
06:36Of course, there is an accounting registration fee.
06:39Sir, for example, there are people who are interested
06:42to form a cooperative and become a member of a cooperative.
06:45Are there social media pages
06:47for our countrymen to look at
06:49if they want more information?
06:51Yes, we have FB page, NCR, CDA-NCR.
06:55You can check the FB page.
06:59And the central head office also has FB page.
07:04CDA-Philippines?
07:05Yes, CDA-Philippines.
07:06For those who want to organize,
07:0815 or more,
07:10we can do the subject of pre-registration seminar.
07:13And our registration is also online.
07:1615 up members?
07:17Yes, 15 up members.
07:19And then, our registration is online.
07:21You can go to the admin web page
07:23and access all the requirements
07:25that Mr. Libasso said
07:27so that you can get the requirements
07:31to register our cooperative.
07:33All right.
07:34Let's go to our countrymen.
07:36Meanwhile, thank you, Sir Ray and Sir Serio.
07:38Thank you.
07:39Thank you.
07:40It was nice talking to you here at Rise and Shine Philippines.
07:42We are happy to share information with you.
