To quote another horror film, keep off the moors, stick to the roads.
00:03
That's what Sophia the Portisher done in this horror movie,
00:06
where she accompanies the father of a murdered childhood friend to try and find his body,
00:11
but the land holds terrifying secrets.
00:14
As you'd expect, the film makes a lot of use out of its eerie and misty central location,
00:18
where it's easy to get lost in the featureless landscape filled with hidden dangers,
00:22
but it also serves as a metaphor for the guilt and paranoia of the main characters.
00:27
The performances in the cast of Most of the Unknowns is generally solid,
00:30
but the movie is also notable for being the final film credit of Bernard Hill,
00:34
who plays the inspector who worked on the original case,
00:38
who brings a welcome integrity to his brief appearance.
00:41
It's a promising feature debut for Chris Cronin,
00:43
but I found this more haunting and unsettling than outright frightening.
00:47
There are some good scares in the final 20 minutes,
00:49
but it takes an awfully long time to get to them because the film's excessively baggy pacing.
00:54
It would have bare fit for being massively tightened up,
00:56
and I found myself thinking that less really is more.
