Democrats are defending President Biden after his stumbling debate performance against former President Trump left many voters cringing and his party scrambling to reshape perceptions.  A new CBS News/YouGov poll found that 72% of voters don't think Biden should run for president again, and 72% don't think he has the mental and cognitive ability to serve. Top Democrats acknowledged Biden had a "bad performance" and blamed it on "preparation overload. Biden said voters didn't react as negatively as pundits and fundraising has increased, with $33 million raised so far, over half from grassroots donors.
