00:00The carcass of a tiger was discovered in Sungai Dabong in Kuala Krai by several villagers

00:08Kelantan Perhilitan Director Mohamad Hafid Rohani said the villagers found the endangered

00:13species while passing through the riverine area.

00:16He said they then deployed a team of rangers to the scene to retrieve the carcass and investigate

00:20the incident.

00:25He said the tiger had been sent to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Sungai for autopsy.

00:34The Malayan tiger is estimated to number less than 200 in the wild in Malaysia.

00:38Its population has dwindled from 3,000 in the 1950s.

00:42Earlier this week, Hafid said Perhilitan had installed cameras around the Kalawek area

00:47to monitor the tigers after receiving reports on the roars of tigers and traces of their

00:52footprints in the area.

00:55Over the past six months, as many as three tigers were reportedly involved in road accidents

01:00where they were run over by vehicles in the peninsula.
