00:00A musical evening in the heart of Versailles.
00:11These actors are performing the Bourgeois Gentleman, a Molière classic brought back
00:15to the stage thanks to this festival.
00:21I like the Bourgeois Gentleman because of how musical, theatrical and comic it is.
00:26And when I say theatrical, I mean it in the exaggerated sense of the word.
00:30You can never be too much when you're playing Molière's characters, because Molière was
00:33all about exaggeration.
00:37The Molière Month aims to make theatre more accessible, offering over 300 performances
00:42for free or for just a few euros.
00:47For two euros, you can go and see plays you aren't sure you'll like.
00:52The two-euro ticket really made it possible for me to come here, because I don't have
00:56much money to spend on concerts and cultural outings.
01:06Such low prices are a blessing for us and for the audience.
01:09It means that everyone can afford to join, because for many people a ticket at 50 euros
01:13is just not possible.
01:14So for that reason, the Molière Month is really extraordinary.
01:19The festivals will wrap up this week as the festival ends, but Molière Classics will
01:22come back to the stage at Avignon's Off Festival, where they will feature for the first time.
