Are you concerned about house prices?

We ask the people of Newport if they’re worried about house prices, which on average now cost £227,000.

00:00But when they live in more expensive places, I really, really do feel for them.

00:06Because they're never going to get on the housing ladder, never, you know.

00:11Because they keep on saying, oh, we're going to create good, well-paid jobs.

00:16Are they going to do it, are they?

00:18For the younger generation now, you know, it's very hard now.

00:22If you're on the housing market now.

00:24Of course, the employment's not like it was in my day, like when I was a lot younger, you know.

00:29You could go from one job to another, the industry's just there.

00:32It'd be a good thing to help them out.

00:34There is a lot of people that don't have accommodation,

00:36lots of people struggling even to find rented accommodation.

00:40So, yeah, that might be a good thing for youngsters.

00:43But what about us old people?

00:45No, I'm quite optimistic.

00:47You know, and let's hope now that they start building, you know, more homes.

00:52Especially affordable homes, you know.

00:54I see a lot of homelessness and it's sad, really.

00:57So hopefully, you know, they start building more homes.
